Fister Exhaust Modification Questions
Greetings gents,
Sorry to bother everyone with another exhaust question thread - however, just curious to see the number of people who have the Fister mod done on their car (whether done by Fister themselves, or getting the bypass done in the same way)....
My situation is that I currently have the Fabspeed cold air intake (which I now know isn't doing much except a bit of induction noise), and the Fabspeed Sport Cats (200 cell, I'm pretty sure). So, I've got a bit of noise at WOT, but I'm looking for a bit more rasp and occasion but I don't want ANY drone at cruising.
My questions:
1) How long have you had the Fister mod and do you still like it?
2) Did you have the mod then reverted back?
3) Are you running any other exhaust bits with your Fister modification?
I just don't want to do it and regret it and have it be "too loud". It's not my daily, but I'm planning a long multi-day road trip and I don't want it to be annoying.

My car came with the Fister mod, it is glorious. When I did the plugs, water pump, etc. I determined it was in fact one done by Fister.
My car also came with a hot air intake made by K&N, took that off and went back to a stock air box. Had no effect on power or noise.
I would not go back!
Do it!

Bought my car with the Fister and a no name 200 Cell cross pipe. Added:
- IPD Comp plenum + GT3 TB
- 997.1 Airbox
- Agency Power headers
There’s no drone or rasp, sounds fantastic above 4K RPM. I’d never revert because it’s a good compromise in comfort + sound.

I had Fisters installed on my car last spring, exhaust is stock otherwise. I love the sound and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Sent stock mufflers to Fister three years ago. Love the sound. Bought a pair of used mufflers on the PCA Mart and sent them to Fister. Took off the old ones and sold them on the PCA Mart. Decided on the Fister option because the car came with Sport Mufflers that needed to be replaced and I didn't want to spend that much money.

I have the Gundo hack, which is similar, but without the additional features that Fister offers. It sounds what I would expect the stock exhaust to sound like.

I should really install the 997.1 airbox I have sitting around...

I had the Fister mod performed locally. I like the sound very much. Docile sounding around town, evil sounding with your foot in it! I have not found a downside.

A Fister exhaust was (and still is unless you count the IMS Solution) the only mechanical modification on my 996 when I bought it.
I was surprised that it had absolutely no drone on 300+ mile ride home.
IMO the Fister has the perfect combination of not bothering my neighbors when I leave the neighborhood but sounding great when I step on the pedal.
I’d never revert back to stock

I have a 98 3.4 with original mufflers that have had some of the internal baffles removed. I did the oil cap mod inside the air box. I think it sounds glorious inside the cabin and not droney or annoying.
That said, I heard my mechanic driving it last week on a brake test and I was less impressed as it drove past. Am genuinely considering the Fister mod on a set of either genuine, or Miltek style stainless mufflers.

1999 C4 with a 3.8 , aftermarket headers and x-pipe with Fister Motorsports modified mufflers . She has a glorious bark on acceleration and deceleration and can still be docile when you go easy on the throttle . I am very happy with the results .

I went and did the straight pipe approach. Actually sounds great without too much drone and not crazy loud. A lot of folks (at PCA meets) say they like how it sounds, I figured you can buy the straight pipes for $120 and if I didn't like them (not out a lot of money) I could go back to the stock hack approach.
