Good luck and happy motoring in whatever you decide to buy.
It use to be that German manufacturers built the best cars in the world. MB and Porsche built cars that had high performance and were very durable. It's sad to see what has happened to the quality of both marques.

Hmmm what do we call this? inverse trolling?

Default Way Off Base

Just Porsche - You are way off base with your comment, the NSX is closer than you think when comparing stock 996 to stock NSX. My friends 98NSX can hang with me all the way to 160+ mph and I dog my 996 daily. I love Porsche but also realize there is more out there than just one. I would consider the NSX (if I could live with a two seater) anyday. Again, you have to drive them both allow your soul to make the decision, not your wallet. That way your always smile when you see your baby. Works for me. good luck amigo,.

NSX was Ayrton Seena's personal car. Honda did give him one as a present because he did help mechanics to improve suspension and braking components.
In testing he did 6 consecutive braking acts from 150 mph to zero mph, and brakes showed no fading or tireness!!!!

BUT he has been caught speeding on the M25, which is a four lane London outer ring road, with a lovelly early……..911……and of course he has been banned for driving for 6 months……

The funny thing to this story was that when the policeman stopped him, he asked him: why do you speed? Who do you think you are? Nigel Mansell?.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

these are two very very very different cars...it is not like comparing S-class Merc with 7-series BMW.....

as you can see i am a porschehonda maniac....most of my cars are from these 2 brands...

you really need to have a test drive to have an idea of what it is....and definetely a 2-3 day test drive to appreciate them more.....

i would go for 911 daiy and
NSX trackdays and week-ends....

p.s by the way, you must hear the NSX.......

Not sure that this clip does justice to the NSX engine but have a look.

I don't think that clip did any justice. If you notice halfway thru the vid, they show the rpm and mph TACs...notice how you hear the engine still reving, but the rpm needle is at 1, and he's only going 50mph. But, I would still take an R without question.

At the track NSX is always highly regarded... in fact there are many who prefer the NSX over the 996 as a track car due to it's mid engine layout and advanced chassis... it's certainly not an entry level sports car... it's AT LEAST on par with a 996.

Default Buddy of mine...

drove an NSX and spent more time oogling my 996C4 than his NSX. So I let him drive the 996 one day to pick up his girlfriend...he sold the NSX!

NUFF SAID.

c'mon, if you have driven both cars and still need to ask, then the NSX is for you. The NSX is beautiful, but a poseurs car. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

NSX was designed as a race car from the ground up... the 996 wasn't... if you want to race a Porsche you have to buy a GT3 ... sure you can take your average 996 to the track and lap it... but guys who race Porsches own GT3's only... 996's are the "street" porsches... the NSX is highly regarded by many who spend lots of time at the racetrack... plus its a hell of a lot more reliable than the 996.

It irks me when so many people argue which car is faster without ever mentioning driver ability. If you quote magazine articles then you're the poser.

Buy what grabs you the most when you drive it.

Since I do own both and quoted magazine articles, I would assume that you are talking about me. I never said which one was faster. I say stock and stock, they are equal in perfomance. When a magazine tests the cars usually they are tested by the same driver for comparison reasons. If you are a terrible driver in one car, you will be a terrible driver in the other car, so if you are driving both cars they should feel equally as slow or fast. If a great driver races a 996 NA against a 996 turbo with an average driver, the trurbo will win everytime. Not flamin anyone, just they are both excellent cars.

rhunt....don't assume, I wasn't talking about anyone in particular. Only the all too often quotes which often permeate car discussions.
