a 928 guys buys 99 911?
Juat purchased this 911 yesterday from non-porsche dealer. He had a few Porsches, Bmw;s etc. 42,000 miles VERY clean 6 speed. My wife and I fell in love with this car. I am in Fla on vacation and will be driving the car back to Boston in a few weeks, I did purchase a 3 yr waranty from Western General, has any body had any experience with them. Any words of wisdom for the long ride home. By the way is this considered a 996? Thanks so much.

Welcome!
First thing to do – post pictures!
I have not had experience with Western General, but I did buy an extended warranty for my 1999 996 last June. I am not a huge fan of extended warranties, but this one saved me $9k this year. I had a connecting rod bearing failure.
For the long ride home:
Notice the feedback the car gives you.
Turn the radio off and listen to the flat-6 music!
If you are curious about what your car has for options, underneath your hood is a sticker. Enter these codes in the online decoder. If you have questions, post ‘em.
A couple things you will learn hanging out in this forum:
RMS failure – Hope you can stay out of that club!
The never-ending question: "What sounds best, Fabspeed, GHL or PSE exhaust?"
To supercharge or not to supercharge?
Bumperplugs! Adds 15 HP.

Drive safe,
Darren

Really.......Whenever I park the 928 or my a28 under my pontiac GP the rear main seal seems to want to drip a little on the car under it.Never seems to leak when I park it on the ground. Boy do I hate the old rope style seals.

Rick,
Welcome to the realm of 996 owners. I am just down the road from you in Mansfield and have complete shop manuals, a few tools/parts, and a little knowhow. Feel free to stop by sometime for coffee or beer..., I would love to see your new wheels. I am still quite curious about the 928. So many owners really liked them.
Have a nice trip. - once up to the Delaware memorial Bridge on RT 95, usually the best route is to take the NJ turnpike to the George Washington bridge. Even with 30 minutes of sloggin through traffic it is usually faster than the Tappan Zee. I have driven this route a lot in the past few months.
