You can also do open-road racing. Many (esp. west coast) come to the open road rally (race for some) events that are run here in Nevada. They close down long stretches of roads to the public and do high-speed events, most are time/distance rallys. I have never done one, but it sounds interesting. We definately have lots of roads here in NV that are good for this sort of thing!
If anyone is interested, the organizers have a website...

Going to a Wedding Reception 155mph on LIE, Sh#@$ing a brick that I don't get pulled over! I also missed my exit by 3, wife was not happy! I'm curious what would one get if clocked at that speed in NY?

Late for my wedding, I hit 140 on the Bruckner Expressway! Top speed I have reached was in Canada, on the acess road to one of the airports in Montreal. It was Sunday morning at about 9 am. The airport must close on weekends, as there was no one there and no planes at the gates. Anyway, two lanes, no turnoffs and no place to hide. hit 168 Remember, as I was pissed I didn't hit 170. Oh, then a cop pulled on the highway, now the only other car on the road and I was back to the speed limit.
