Outlook for C4S pickup in Philly
Here's the plan - to fly in to Philadelphia airport from LAX on Sunday night, meet the buyer Monday morning, and drive the 550 miles from PA to my office in Charlotte, to have the car shipped back to LA.
Having just come in from Texas and the snow and ice back there, and looking at the forcast for the weekend, I'm thinking the drive is looking pretty grim.
Is there anyone out that way that can shed some light on whether they think, based on how things are looking out there, if you would make the same drive?
Any thoughts would be appreciated - the flights are booked, the bank is booked, the meetings are set - I just don't want to get caught in a blizzard!!!
Many thanks!

Here are the current details (at least for N. NJ): Snow has stopped and the road crews seem to finally be cleaning up.
If you're driving Monday morning from Philly to Charlotte, I would assume everything will be clear by then. Congrats!

Drifting
Differsnt opinion on driving. C4 is great in all weather, I drive an 00' C4. But tires are critical. Summer tires are bad below 40 degrees F, but driveable if these is no snow or ice. I you run into snow or ice on the summer tires, get off the road, they are down right dangerous. I tried it the first year I had mine, in the first light snow, could not stop or turn. Don't risk the car. I run Dunlop Winter sport M2 and they are great in the snow and ice. Just my opinion, but it would be really bad to bend your new car.

If you plan on driving the car in the winter you are going to need winter tires. I would buy them now, have the dealer put them on your car, and ship the summer tires to your house. Then you can put the summer tires back on in the spring.

Here in Maryland the highways are all cleared up near DC and there is no forecasted precipitation between now and Monday. I would think you'd be fine.
On a tangent, in my first year in a 996, I put snow tires on and plow through the snow without a problem. The only thing that slowed me down today on the way to work in the snow was, of all things, a snow plow. Eventually passed him and merrily went about my business.
Congratulations on the new car. Good luck.

The roads should be great on Monday, we had 8 inches last night but it's mostly cleared up now. Be sure to make the drive during the day though, when it get's below freezing at night the concrete bridges on 95 get iced over. There we're a ton of late night accidents in Philly last night due to black Ice.
Congrats on your new car!

Thanks so much for the feedback. Weather outlook looks pretty good, so I think we're a go.
I should be on the road by 10:30, hopefully I'll be in northern NC by nightfall, with warmer temps and no black ice!!!
I'll post pics when I pick up the car...

Just got back from the airport after the trip, and everything went great.
Flew into Philadelphia late Sunday night, the seller came to meet us Monday morning with the car - he'd driven in from north Pennsylvania, so the car had gotten pretty dirty with the snow and muck, but everything looked great.
Checked out the car, absolutely like new. Signed the papers, hopped in, and drove 10 hours south to Charlotte in light snow, rain, and dark, but the car had no problems with any of it.
The driving experience was fantastic, the car was beautiful, and I can't believe I had to leave it in Charlotte to get shipped back.
Here's a pic of me (on the left) and the PO at the handoff, and I'm looking forward to many years and many mods!
I'll post more pics when I get the car (12/30), get it cleaned up and in California condition.
Thanks for all the feedback on the weather, turned out to be a perfect drive and a great experience.
