Jerry has 47 Porsches parked in his garage!! Including 959 for $700,000
Jerry Seinfeld focuses on decade-old Porsches. He spent $1.4 million and two years having a 20-car garage-gallery built in Manhattan for his mechanical masterpieces.
The collection's centerpiece is a $700,000 Porsche 959, one of only 200 ever built. To Jerry's frustration, he isn't allowed to drive it. US government emissions and crash-test standards have never been tested on the car because Porsche refuses to hand over four vehicles for destruction tests. Jerry, therefore, has had to bring in his rare Porsche under an "exhibition only" clause -- the car must never set rubber on an American road.
Included in Jerry's collection is a 1959 straight-16 GT speedster; a Porsche 911S; a 1955 Spyder 550 -- the same model and pearl-grey color actor James Dean was driving when he crashed and died in September 1955 near Cholame, Calif. At a recent count, Jerry has 47 Porsches parked in his garage. Jerry loves Porsches so much he gave his wife, Jessica Sklar, a 1958 Porsche 1600 Speedster as a wedding present in 1999. The car cost him a reported $40,000, chump change for the yada-yada king who topped Forbes magazine's list of top-earning celebs of 1998, when he raked in $267 million.
3 words to sum it up: Must Be Nice!

I met Jerry at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Daytona in 04, and believe me anyone who was there will agree that he is just a regular Porsche nut. I was in the pits when he came in just before the judging in Steve McQueens #20 917: his smile was just totaly ear to ear. I asked him about how he enjoyed his ride on the track, and all he could comment about was being out there with all of the other 917's and how much history was out there with him. When I mentioned that #20 was also a special 917 he just said ,"AH JUST A COMMUTER". Jerry was willing to talk Porsche with anyone.

Speaking of Jerry and 959s
The shop that federalized Seinfield's 959 and others like it is Canepa Design in Santa Cruz Ca. Bruce Canepa was the "driving" force in getting legislation passed that allows cars like the 959 to be driven legally (with many strings attached) on the roads here in the US. For $600-700K you too can have a NOS 959!
Our local PCA region had a tech session there a few months ago and here are some pictures of the 959 remanufacturing shop, and some of Bruce's other cars. This place is great, there are about 15 959s there in various states of assembly and disaasembly. I don't know anywhere else that has such a side-by-side selection of 959s, Not even Stuttgart.

Chris: Jerry is a very funny guy, but explain to me how he gets 47 cars in a 20 car garage?
"Twenty in the front, twenty in the back, six in the closet and one on the mouse's lap". I don't think so.!!

He spent $1.4 million and two years having a 20-car garage-gallery built in Manhattan for his mechanical masterpieces. I am sure the gallery is for his most precious. He has other garages I'm sure. Here is the link where I copied the information I posted. : http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/aut.../comedians.asp

Anyways, he has a nice collection, had a great show (been keeping me entertained while I've been extremely sick the past few weeks - sure as hell beats oprah or Jerry Springer) and frankly, I want his collection.
