Exclamation What do you think I should do with this $23K 99 C2?

One of my best friends owns a dealership and recently picked up a 99 996 C2 Black/Black 6speed with 82K miles. It has an amp, 6 disc indash cd player, stereo system, and wheels with a polished lip. He said it was repoed and the bank sold it at Manheim. At the auctions it was said to make a weird noise from the transmission - but after inspection it was the giant 285/18 size tires that were rubbing - not the transmission. My question is - should I jump on this deal because he will sell it to me for $23K. Black is not my ideal choice, but its really cheap. If anyone in Orange County, CA can recommend me a PPI or certified Porsche guy to look over and inspect the car in and out - please let me know. Are there any other concerns I should be worried about?

My original choices in order were white, red, and black - all with aero kit. I am just thinking of getting this deal and slapping on some body kit and wheels. Is this an opportunity knocking at my door or a potential mess? Please let me know your thoughts!

could go either way
what are the records like?
either way you shouldn't be off too bad if it's your best friend's dealership, I mean at least you can trust the seller isn't going to intentionally try and screw you

One way to look at it......if nothing is wrong, it's an AWESOME deal.
If there are some problems, & you to have put say even $7,000 into it, its is still
only $30,000 which is not out of line even with the miles.....

just my .02

I saw in the report on 2/15/06. a black 99 C2 went for $23.8k below cond. with 80,163 miles on it. I am guessing this is the car you are talking about. Get it checked out and i agree ZX9RCAM. That is a lot of car for $23.

Drive it, get PPI done, check for body damages, and look into the car's history. If all checks out then you have a great deal!!

285/18 should fit fine on the rears IF the proper wheels are used.

I just purchased a 1999 cab for $24,250. One owner, dealer maintained from new and fully optioned. A clean carfax, full service records and a clean PPI other than a small crack (cosmetic only) in the front bumper cover as a result from a curb I suspect. I can either have it repaired or purchase an aftermarket. Anyone out their recomend a good source for replacement? This is my first water cooled 911 after years of owning a few 3.2 liter air cooled 911's. I will post pictures as soon as I have some available.

Damn the resale is worse than I thought on these cars.
That 285 tire should fit , unless the wheels are wrong as Loren said.
Still sounds like a good deal.

This car was a daily driver with 105,000 miles however the engine was replaced at 58,000 miles in 2003 from Porsche. All documentation. RMS was the culprit.
