Price check for a 2002
Looked at a 02 Targa yesterday. 6 speed, 27k miles, looks to be in good condition, of course I will have a ppi done. 1 month of factory warranty remaining. They are asking $48,500?
Questions:
1. Is this a good price? This is the top of my budget, really want an 02+, been going back and forth between a coupe and a cab, thought a targa may be a good compromise. I probably would occasionally track the car.
2. Clutch felt very, very heavy compared to my current cars, a 05 Audi S4 and a 02 Corvette Z06. And even heavier than my previous 03 M3. Is this normal? I drove a 00 C2 coupe not that long ago and the clutch didn't feel that way.
3. Slight vibration in steering wheel at highway speeds, I guess it needs alignment?
thanks
Glenn

not sure about 2 and 3 but the price is good. vibration could be from a dented wheel, unbalance wheel or suspension setup. be sure to get a good ppi. 1 month of warranty is really not enough but at least it's something if there is an existing warranty item that needs to be fixed. if it's sold through dealer, consider getting it certified to get another 2 yrs.

I think the price is reasonable.
I don't think the clutch should feel subtantially different than the one in the '00 C2 you drove. I don't find the clutch particularly heavy in my car, although it is a little bit stiffer than the one in my E46 BMW.

I recently bought an 02 C2 with 29000 on it for 47k. Bear in mind you will need to get the 30K service done right away - which costs around $1000-$1200 at a P dealer. Its a good idea to get that done before the factory warranty runs up b/c they may spot repairs at that time.
I also went with an extended warranty through Easy Care - backed by GM - supposed to be a great warranty and the P-dealer sold it to me - they say its solid.
As far as the clutch - my new C2 has a heavier clutch than the Audi A4 I traded it in for. (not sure if the S4 has a heavier clutch than the A4)

I will definitely test drive another 996 just to compare clutch feel.
thanks
