996 GT3 Kit for real?
I know that you can buy a 996 with a Factory "GT3" Aero Kit. This ebay auction here claims its some rare "GT3 Kit" from the factory that included exhaust, sway bars, etc, and only available in europe in 2001?
Any know if this is legit?

That looks like an Aerokit all right,
BUT...I've seen pics of a MK1 GT3 with that exact same kit, it was on the Nurburgring.
I think it's the early 98/99 model MK1 GT3 only in Europe or Germany.

... the GT3 badge tends to remove a lot of credibility from the car. Pity, as it's a nice looking car, but you should never claim to be something that you're not, as that means nothing can be believed.

It is a standard 996 with a 3.4, the engine pic tells all. A GT3 engine bay would look a "little" different. Car has an aero kit and "maybe" the M030 sports suspension. If interested you should request a picture of the Option Codes under the front hood.

Yup, thats a 996 with aerokit. That is definitely NOT the GT3 engine. Larger sways may be just that: larger sways without the accompanying sports suspension. Racing exhaust may mean Porsche sport exhaust or just the tips. All these may have been added aftermarket.
It sounds like the seller doesn't really know what's what, or he knows and it's all sales speak. To get the real lowdown, ask for the option codes sticker pic, and receipts for the work done. For a 2001 996 C2 GT3 look-alike, $50K is too high, IMHO.

"Flame Yellow".. what? Thought it was Speed Yellow. I hate reading eBay listings like that. The car does look clean but it is just a C2 with the aerokit parts, couple other decent options. That extra badge has to go!

..that or just get them to email you a good resolution copy (that you can read) of the photos of the sticker that they have posted on the auction.... they're mostly illegible. I see it has a "GT package" and that's probably what they're trying to pass of as making it GT-3-like.

...no hope if they can't even read the sticker for the correct color designation.
Not as exclusive as they're painting it. Basically it's a nice looking C2 with a GT-3 badge on the back designed to make it look more 'pimped' than it really is.

I have the exact same car (speed yellow) without the extra areo parts behind the rear wheels (Option was available when I ordered my car but I did not like the look).
What he may be trying to say is there may have been another areo optionthat was NOT the GT3 kit...
To finish the GT3 look I've added the GT3 factory race seats and Rollbar...Order them from Germany..they got here before the car did...if you search back in the archives my posts might still be around, there were a lot of people trying to find that stuff back then...no, did not put the GT3 script on my car....
Mine may go up for sale first part of next year....(looking at the new GT3 with any luck)....
