Default Damn!

So,

I drive to new york yesterday on some last minute business in my E55...and today i'm driving from my hotel to another hotel for a convention and i'm accelerating off a green light and BOOM...sounded like I ran over a small child, smoke is coming from under the hood...threw the belt....i get the car towed in to a dealer here in nyc, they look at the car...and...

The balancer 2 piece...came apart, threw the belt, put a hole in the radiator, and took out the oil pan....

So i need a new radiator, oil pan, belt, harmonic balancer...thank god i bought the MB extended warranty!

I've got to be back in chicago by friday...dealer says it "should" be done...i'm not holding my breath.

So now i've got to fly back to Chicago, fly back out to nyc to pick up the car...what a bitch...!

i avoid flying and all costs...it's a personal thing. I will if i absolutely have to...but if there is a way out of flying...i'll take it. Give me 2 valiums and i can make it on a plane, still don't like it...i like to be on 4 wheels on the ground. I know that flying is such and such more times safer than driving...but oh well.

The drive from Chicago has to be like 12 hours, right? If you fly, I figure you spend 45 minutes driving to the airport, arrive their 2 hours early, the flight is generally 1.5 hours (assuming you're not delayed on the tarmac for 2 hours as I was when last flying to Toronto), the drive into Manhattan will average about 45 minutes again and then you're done. All in, you just spent 5 hours in transit. Yes, you're drive is 2.5x that, but at least you don't have to deal with flying which you seem to despite. So, I say go for it.

But, the real question is: why not take the Pcar? Those things sing on long trips.

I still haven't taken my ML in for the harmonic balancer recall. Guess I'd better make an appointment ASAP.

When I go to Toronto on business I always take the Porsche. I'd much rather drive 6 hours in the 911 then 4 hours dealing with flying.

Sucks about the AMG, but why not have them ship it back to you... that has to be cheaper and less of a hassle than flying here and driving it back?

Hello fellow E55 owner. (post up a pic if you can).

My E55 was in the shop on the brake recall for close to 30 days (parts unavailble, car no workie without brakes). Now I've got a tire pressure sensor problem. Gosh, why did I give up my 9-year-trouble-free Lexus ownership for the E55? :-( Oh, yeah, the wife wouldn't let me stuff our kids in the 911 (call me what you want but nor would I want them there.

Cheers and enjoy the drive back, don't ship it. When the E55 is running, it's a fantastic car.

I prefer to drive to Toronto (from Los Angeles) than to fly. I swear man, flying is a total pain in the *** these days, what with all the waiting and delays. Screw it! Drive if you can I say.
