More travel - you never regret traveling - always good memories, and always worth whatever cash.
Go to Germany, and get a nice 911 with international plates, and do the Nurburgring in the day and drink big cold beers in the evening - repeat.

Simply put, I would retire...then do whatever I want.
How about resurrecting the mortgage tangent again?
Have perspectives changed in 2 years?
I'll throw my 2 cents into the original debate and say that it really depends on your perspective. If you are an average person, intelligent "leveraging" may make sense.
If you win $30 million in the lotto, keeping a mortgage for a tax write-off is no longer a good idea.

Maybe no financial sense, but it sure is nice not having a mortgage since '95, and at 46 yo being young enough to be able to cut back working hours, and stress (being self employed) Also having a very nice large home in a supurb area with greater than average appreciation, wonderful views, backing the mountains. I'm happy.

This thread reminds me of something way more important than money and material possessions that is often overlooked by those so sharply focused on personal success.
Utah entrepreneur Larry Miller died at 64 yo of complications due to diabetes. He was the owner of the Utah Jazz, several car dealerships and one of finest Motorsports facilities in the world, the Miller Motorsports Park. A few weeks ago he had both lower legs amputated in a move to try to buy him more time. He has been ill for quite a while and little has been reported as to details. He was a very successful business man and workaholic, who thought more time at the office was more important than eating healthy and exercise. Never got to fully realize or enjoy the fruits of his labor.

I agree but some people really love what they do for a living so it might have been all worth it to him.
