OT: British HP Sauce made in the US
I know there are a whole gaggle of ex-pat Brits on this forum, so this is potentially huge news for us - and great news for US steak sauce lovers!
I found HP sauce for sale in my local Vons yesterday!
Yes, the original, with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament on the label (Hence the name HP).
It's being made by HP foods offshoot, Lea and Perrins, in the USA, and is labeled 'new improved recipe original steak sauce'.
So I gave it a test drive last night - on a nice cheese sandwich
Tastes good, slightly more spicy even.
Just so happy I don't have to ask visitors from Blighty to smuggle it like contraband in their luggage, or pay the local HP Sauce pushers here in the US their jacked-up prices.
If you are someone who loves their steak or BBQ, and have never tried HP - give it a try. It's the Original!

I still have 2 bottles of the old brown sauce in my kitchen, but good to know!
Now I just need to convince the local supermarket to stock Hienze Baked Beans again..........it was one glorious year of beans on toast, then nothing.

A feel a trip to the Brit shop in Carlsbad coming on - to buy me some overpriced British bacon to go with my US HP Sauce....
Some how those Brit food pimps still get to take my money!
Oh well, may as well give-in and buy some sausage rolls while I'm there, to make the trip worth while

I agree, it doesn't taste the same... it's been available on the east coast for several years... I got all excited and bought some and wasn't too impressed... I stil get my HP Fruity imported. No comments on the fruity unless you've tried it!
The local grocery stores (part of Albertson's) stock the blue label stuff, but I've never been a fan of that.
