Default Standard Oil changing Pricing

Gents,
What is the norm for an Oil Change again ? My local dealership (Paul Miller Porsche, Parssipany NJ) Wants $230.00 -

I guess it never bugged me before, that was prior to ordering my 08 TT and my sons school (the horror) what is the deal with the rip off ?

Hope all is well

Just do it your self.

Even if you have never done one before it will take you 15-20 top's

You should really let the oil drain for 20 mins, so have a beer in that time

It shouldn't cost more than $65 bucks for the first one

9 quarts of 0-40 $45
1 filter $13
1 oil pan $5
oil wrench $3
Easiest car I have ever done an oil change to

Then use the extra money for a lap dance

DIY is easy, else expect to pay $150 for the first time, $100 for repeat visits with a coupon.

Damn, I was gonna use Paul Miller for my service / warranty work. Not if they charge that much just to change the oil!? Wonder what Ray Catena would charge? Or Jack Daniels?

andyK- in your neck of the woods you can also try town motors in Edgewater. Not sure of the cost but another option to compare.

I've spent quite a bit of $$$ for work on my cars at PM only to find out that I was subsidizing the education of some of their mechanics.

Even one case where I told them what the problem was and what to do to to fix it (Est cost $1400). They took it upon themselves to diagnose it as something else and attempted to fix it based this. Once they realized they were wrong, they had to disassemble again to make the repairs I had originally specified.

I couldn't believe it when they charged me for the initial diagnosis(incorrect), disassembly and repair as well as the second disassembly and repair. I was presented with a bill for >$3500. Once I raised hell, they realized weren't dealing with the average oblivious pcar owner and dropped the bill to $1500 nearly immediately. This made it obvious that they were trying to get one over on me.

I've had some interesting experiences with their sales staff as well but I won't get into it here. On a different note, Jim at the parts desk has always been straight up.

Nope. GMG is $200 for the labor and you supply your own oil and filter.

Shop around, prices can really vary. I am coming up on my 90,000 service for 1999 C2. I called two different dealers here in NJ yesterday and asked how much for the service. One dealer quoted $1600 and the other $700. Hmmm, I can only wonder how it can be so different for what should be exactly the same thing.

I have had Porsches serviced at both places in the past and both do a good job. I have confidence in the mechanics of both places. The real difference is one dealer has a more high end address and modern showroom. I guess that gives them the right to charge more.
