Default Spoiler Lip for Aero II / GT3

My car had a Aero II / GT3 kit put on (I had aero 1 before but just had a facelift done), I used part number 000.044.802.28 which is a composite part number that includes all the following:

964 505 103 00 G2X 1 x Cover cap for towing lug
999 651 225 40 1 x Securing cord
996 505 983 02 G2X 1 x Front spoiler, primered
996 505 986 02 G2X 1 x Spoiler lip; primered
999 507 497 40 21 x Expanding rivet (for fitting spoiler lip to front spoiler & fitting wheel housing cover)

From what I understand the lip part number 996 505 986 02 G2X is the larger lip in this picture:

Now that picture was posted by Dell, who in many posts refers to that larger spoiler as 996 505 986 92, but I think he just mistyped and meant 996 505 986 02.

However, what came in my kit, and whats on my car looks like neither of those. Was there a 3rd type of splitter?

The first lip (short one) in your picture is the Aero I lip and has part # 996 505 986 00(G2X) the second one is the Aero II lip part # 996 505 986 92(G2X)

The 3rd lip available is the Cup (Motorsport) lip for Aero II part # 996 505 986 91 it looks more like the Aero II lip but is deeper and extends further out on the sides of the bumper. Here is a pic of the Cup lip

Trust that clarifies.

I don't think thats what I have. What I have is this:

This came inside of kit: 000.044.802.28

And I assume it to be: 996 505 986 02 G2X

It looks almost like a Mk1 lip, but that wouldn't make sense the holes should not line up. Mine only has 10 or 11 holes in it, not 15 or 16 like the bigger lip shows.

I am concerned.

The part number I gave 000 044 802 28 is from the Tecquipment catalog/PET. It shows that it does in fact include the part 996 505 986 02 G2X splitter, and it looks like the one on my car!

So this means that the splitter in Tecquipment catalog is not the same as the one actually shipped when you order an Aero II factory? If you look thru the 996 PET catalog, they show splitters in there, and its not the same splitter in Tecquipment, which is also not the same splitter in the GT3 pet catalog...........so thats 3 different MkII aero splitters, someone correct me if I am wrong?

I feel cheated with this splitter, as I like the longer one much better, this one is more like a Mk1 splitter.

So is this correct to say these are the factory lip options for 02+?

GT3 Catalog
996 505 986 92 01C (Black) (wraps around all the way to edge)

Cup Spoiler
996 505 986 91 (also wraps around to edge, not sure difference between this and GT3)

Tecquipment (aka Aero II)
996 505 986 02 G2X (prime coated) (does not go all the way to the edge of spoiler, looks alot like Mk1 but angled outword)

I have also seem people post about 996 595 986 92 but I think that
may be a mistype of 996 505 986 92, anyone know?

Never seen that little lip before, can not be OEM. Forget the pictures in PET as the do not resemble what the real thing looks like. Just get a Cup splitter and move on.

I gave a DETAILED description of the lips and included pics. And no, I did NOT post incorrect info. Do a search.

Here's some help:
FYI......In case you want the lip and order the "Motorsports Lip" here are the parts numbers. I will tell you that the Motorsports lip is cheaper than the standard Aero Lip.

The Aero Lip retails for about $200 (OEM) and can be had for about $150 (CUP) from several vendors. (TRG is where I got mine)

996 505 986 92 Aero Kit Cup Lip
996 505 986 91 Motorsports Cup Lip

Here's a head start:

Why do you feel cheated if you ordered it?

I bet you nobody here on Rennlist has seen that lip before and there is a bunch of people here that know their stuff.

I was sarcastic in saying I felt cheated.....

What I have, is the Aero II splitter, which is the part # on it, and whats in PET. What alot of you have is the GT3 splitter, which is a different splitter, and then some of you have the RS/Cup versions.

My bad was thinking that the Aero II and GT3 were the same splitter. They are in fact different part #'s, and different parts. The GT3 and cup splitters look very similar but the Aero II one does not.

Actually the GT3 splitter and the CUP splitter are not similar and what you have is the stock "AERO" splitter. There is 3 different variants offered. The CUP one is more solid (rigid) and the GT3 stock one is more flexible. It also cuts in much sooner than the CUP one that goes all the way to the outside and beyond. Then there is the one that comes with the AEROII package. **SEE MY THREADS I POSTED FOR YOU FOR PICS**

Dell thanks for the info. I ordered the Aero II splitter, and thats what I got. But what I "want" is the GT3 or Cup one, I like them both. I also like that at least in the GT3 one (not sure about cup), it comes in black and so I can just throw it on (going to get used/abused anyways, probably replaced once a year).
