I enjoy posting and reading posts, and I have learned a lot about my car in these forums, and have posted a couple of items that I hope helped others in the rennlist community. JMO that this particular post is worthless.

I think it is worth knowing if large discounted containers of 0W-40 can be had. Like Ripps said.

might be available in 5 or 55 gallon pails. I don't think its available in gallons in the less common viscositys like 0w40. I deal with a Mobil industrial lubricant wholesaler at work for the heavy machinery gear oils we purchase. I will call and get pricing for the bulk contailers of Mobil 1 in case anyone is interested in really stocking up and post my findings.
sorry if I came off the wrong way, it's been a long day.

Blows my mind that this topic gets so heated. Seems to me the guy asked a straight up "where to buy" question, and I think it was legitimate to tell the forum he wasn't interested in changing his mind about the type of oil he prefers.

Geez, if you're going to pick a cause to crusade for, I'm sure there must be a disease or two that are more worthy of your time than oil viscosity.

Da$$, that's my problem!!! I have been looking for the 0W-40 in the spring water isle. After all it is a water based oil, isn't it?

BTW, in the past I bought 0w-40 at my local Wal-Mart but they recently stopped selling it. They still sell Mobil 1 in other viscosities but dropped the 0w-40. I guess I will have to pay the extra mark-up at Autozone.

Thanks to everyone with worthwhile responses. Have received some good information on where to obtain locally as Wallmart no longer carries it so other options are unfortunately necesary . I do all my own oil changes in all my cars which was part of the justification for the lift to the wife

As to the post style on this thread - I do like the banter and it is part of the fun and culture of the board. Just wanted to avoid this particular back and forth because personally it is pointless to rehash that oil issue time and time again. When I did a search could not find this particular answer after reviewing about 50 threads, so felt it was okay to ask the question. The wealth of information here is fantastic and I really appreciate the like-minded DIY and track-oriented corps.

I think it is either green or orange or gold or blue or something - not quite certain but it sure is slippery!

Don't bother. If you put it in your car, it just leaks back out again. I don't use it myself.

Wholesale price on Mobil 1 - 0W-40 supersyn:
Available in 6qt cases in retail packaging @ $32.99cs ($5.50qt) or 55 Gallon Drums - $1119.25 ($20.35 gal), Distributor told me this product is not packaged in Gallons or 5 gallon pails by Mobil.

How about a group buy, I'll buy a 55gal drum and pack it up in Mayonaise jars

Are those clean mayo jars? What is the effect of Miracle Spread versus Hellmans Real Mayo remnants on viscosity? If it is pickup only for the group buy the West Coast guys can change the oil at your place when they get there then do another change when they get back

I am gonna get a hold of the local distributor and get at least 3 cases for the next two oil changes.

That's what I'm thinking.
