So maybe he wants something that no one else has, that he's designed every inch of, that has an astounding level of performance, and can be done for a fraction of the cost of buying a 997TT *plus* the ludicriously expensive Techart bits plus more tuning costs.
This is a long-standing Porschephile tradition. Excellence writes about one or two of these loons every month. More power to him. Guys like this keep older Porsches cool.

I know I am nasty here but there seems to be a general consensus here, wft are you doing?

my guess would be in addition to the fun project part, it also serves as good advertising for iforged wheels if he puts on a set. I remember his old porsche project had some insane iforged wheels on them with 7 inch lips...something like that. Is it a wirte off if its used for business?

I respect your response. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I do what I do because I enjoy it. Also I have cut up a Porsche 996 before, so its not anything new. Its actually very simple. 3C works on tons of hot rods, old muscle cars, tons of widebody Porsche, as well as Exotics. If you understand metal it actually is quite a simple task. We are not cutting the frame of the car, just the outside body panels. This will have no ill effects on the car, and I can guarantee you it will handle much better after we are done then before. The front end is a complete bolt on.

I don't expect everyone to understanding what I am doing. Sometimes people just have their own paths to get to the final product.

Plus, the journey looks like fun - just doing the work because it's what you like to do. You know, exactly not like my job.

Iforged,

If you don't mind sharing, what do you project a project like this will cost?

ps...keep the pictures coming. I can't wait to see it after paint. There is a Green GT3 RS on the cover of Excellence this month...awesome.

The fun is in going to the shop and following the project. You get to hunt for stuff, pick things out, pick colors ect... It is like hot rods except you use a Porsche. Ruf,Gemballa,Farnbacher all do something similar.
Go for it and keep posting pics !

Thumbs up

I'm really enjoying this ... please keep the pictures posted - its very entertaining.

BTW, I think you're enjoying this ... that's REALLY cool. If you don't mind, when all the dust settles down, could you list an approx budget on this?

Personally, I wouldn't do this myself since I prefer the 996TT (unique, strong & sexy) look to the 997TT (return to roots, not that exciting) - though I love the GT3 front bumper .... I wished they kept the 996TT lights intact though ... the new 997 round ones are too baby-eyed.

Again, awesome work man ...
