My 996: Mods Round 2
Like I did on my last 996, I installed the Motorsports lip spoiler and the GT3 console delete this afternoon.
Parts used:
Lip Spoiler (Part #996-505-986-G2X) - Primered
Plastic Rivets (part # 999-507-427-40) - screw in type
3M Body Panel tape (part# 000-043-206-04)
Rattle can - semi gloss black paint
GT3 Console - (Part# 986-552-113-02-A10)
Black Trim piece - (Part# 986-552-241-02-A03)
Pics of the spoiler (none of the console):
And some gratuitous shots of the car...

Is that the front splitter that is supposed to be installed w/ the OEM Carrera wing?
I've recently purchased the wing (awaiting delivery & will need to get it painted) for my '02 Cab and I understand a front splitter is needed to balance downforce. I've read lots of threads on this but it still isn't crystal clear.

Just an alternative POV... I prefer the amber lamps behind clear lenses in the headlights and corners. Amber lamps behind clear lenses look 'factory' to me, where all clear looks 'tuner' to me. My .02.

well, to each his own . BTW, i think porsche got rid of the amber lenses on the 02+ cars and went with an amber bulb instead. i could go with an amber turn signal bulb on my car and call it oem

Chad - I think an "Amberectomy" is in order over the winter. ==> Amberectomy DIY

Chad, it looks great and I did PM you for the part number of the spoiler but that was before I saw this thread. So thanks for posting the part numbers in this thread as I have added this mod to my list
Sorry Fly996 but I too have to disagree with painting the spoiler, I have seen it done and it does not look correct IMHO. What I think is not making it look more part of the car, is the center section of the front bumper, it is a large white area. If that was open and black I do not believe the spoiler would be as noticeable. Chad, are you going to remove the center section for the 3rd radiator ?
Yes you need the spoiler on the front bumper for the correct aerodynamics to work. But this is in regards to a coupe and so I am not sure about a cab because you do not run the same wing on the back as we coupes do. For the coupes you do need the spoiler and the wicker bill/gurney flap (rear wing) to be complete.
