Mine is my DD during all seasons without snow. As soon as snow hits, it goes inside and I drive my big, slow, '04 Z-71 Tahoe. I do, however take it out for a drive on the occasional nice day during snow season ( with no snow on the roads of course). +1 on the feeling of fast and special.
I love the anticipation of taking it out for even one day. The anticipation of nice weather in 4-6 weeks always puts a smile on my face.

For me I have a DD (95 Blazer) and a garage where my Porsche is always clean. The pain to clean it back up keeps me from driving it daily but make no mistake if the trip is long enough and fun enough I will pit my car because then it is worth the 3-4 hours to get it back to what I want.

For me it all depends on the commute.
My daily commute is 3 miles long (one way) and includes 8 traffic lights; car hardly gets to optimal operating temperature. My DD is an automatic so it's much more comfortable to use for this particular commute. My 996 is loud (track brake pads, LWFW) and I need both hands to drive it (6-speed); I've further no cup-holder in the 996. However, if I'd have a commute that allows for great driving pleasure, I'd take the 996 every day.

50,000 miles in 2 1/2 years , so I guess my '99 C2 qualifies as a well used DD. Total milieage is now up to 93,000 miles, mostly troublefree compared to other cars I have owned.
My only problem is that I can't buy as much when I go to COSTCO. Hard to fit everything in, expecially when I stock up on paper towels and toilet paper.

I wish I had mine today (on Porsche lot for sale right now). We had a rare snow in Seattle - I tried to get out of my driveway with my rear wheel drive 6spd. Mercedes Benz C-class and ended up in the neighbors front yard. Three people had to push and help me get it back in the driveway. It SUCKS in the snow! My C4S would glide thru this and I would be in my office right now.
PS: My 996C4S is VERY COMFORTABLE - nothing better than driving it all day, every day! (the 997 is even better!)
