Default Thanks for all your help - I did it!

After 2-3 months of looking, I am now the owner of:

2002 996 C4S in Speed Yellow, with the Advanced Technic Package, yellow seat backs, yellow seat belts. 33400 miles. Full CPO 2/100k. RMS, 30K service and a new clutch were just done. I had a PPI and it came through with flying colors.

Thanks to all of your for your tips. Thanks especially to Arena993 out in Louisville who actually went and looked at the car in addition to the PPI.

Although, I don't know when I'll get to drive her since I live in New York. I hope to get out there within the next 3 weeks. The wait is going to kill me.

Eric

Thanks - I excited - my first P-car.

I remember going to the factory in Zuffenhausen when I was 15. My family comes from a small town east of Stuttgart called Schorndorf. Gottlieb Daimler (of Daimler-Benz) was born there. I had some older relatives (this was many years ago) who recalled him coming back into town in the late 1800's with a motor car.

I've been hooked on Porsche and Stuttgart ever since. I've got a beautiful poster hanging in my garage that I got at the factory of a 1985 "911 Gruppe B" skelton, which then became the 959.

The book that I've kept all of my notes for my search (in addition to other things) has been an A4 size notebook of VfB Stuttgart. So I see part of the crest all the time.

As you can tell, I'm pretty damn excited.

Uhhh ummm... all those oil spots on the ground in the pictures are from the Land Rovers, correct?

Well done on the purchase, and posting pics before you've even driven the car!

Tim will be most honored LOL

Eric....CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!! Good for you!!! Welcome to the fat **** club! YOU WILL LOVE LOVE LOVE your car. I've had mine for 10 months....I still love it and I get bored of cars very fast.

Are you going to drive it back? If not, what shipper are you using.

THAT CAR IS STUNNING.....I can't believe I'm the first to say this, but you gotta get the clear side markers to replace the 'pumpkins'. That interior is super sweet, a true sports car look. ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY. Won't be too long before we get you hooked on some minor mods like a short shifter and muffler mod.

Very nice. I really like SY.

It looks like the dealer has a couple of GT's as well...you should have picked up a brace for the garage!

The car is absolutely breathtaking....and I'm not even a real fan of yellow.

But here's what I don't understand...I often see low mileage cars for sale (Uberskier's included) that have had the clutch replaced. Why? Are these cars abused in normal street use? Or might they be thrashed around a track at DEs or autocrosses? This question doesn't apply only to Porsches. I often see low mileage Ferraris, for example, announcing similar major component replacements on cars with pretty low mileage.

Is a clutch replacement (or major brake work, etc.) a symptom of the way a car was used, or might it be more of an indication of a weak or flawed component?
