Default sunroof switch loose

hello all,

i searched the forums, but i was unable to find how to remove the plastic cover where the sunroof switch resides on my 01 996.

the switch itself works, but the forward part of it is loose in the plastic housing. i think a clip that holds the switch in place has either broken or come loose. i'd like to look at it, but don't know how to remove the plastic casing around the switch. it's the same casing that surrounds the interior light as well.

can anyone point me to a link showing how to remove the casing from the roof? thanks.

just had same issue with mine- can't recall if instructions on line or in manual- take off 2 plastic motion sensors and unscrew two screws behind these.
my prongs on switch had broken off in front- used few small daps of jb weld to secure switch in place - fine now.

Did you fix? Mine's loose too, just like bgpph described.
bgrpph, do you just pop the motion sensors off like you would a door panel? If so, what's the chance of breaking the connectors?

pat056- I just used small screwdriver from eyeglass repair kit to gently pry off the sensors (two small plastic eyes)- easy to do-
screws to remove entire piece are behind these sensor eyes -

I had the exact same problem... pryed off the motion sensor covers, loosened the torx screws behind them, then the entire consol comes down. My clips were also broken closest to the front. I just super glued the bottom edges of the switch (where the clips should have been) and it's been fine ever since. It's a 15 min fix...
