Stripped caliper bolts!! UPDATE
Ok, I have an updated report,
As toolpants suggested in my original post, the solution to my cross-threaded, stripped caliper bolts was to put time-serts into the hubs. The other choice was to replace the hubs on both sides of the car, and all the relevent parts that would have to go with new hubs, at a cost of about $1700.00.
The way to do the repair is linked to the last thread. I did stop by the shop, Gerber Motorsports in Seattle, right after they had put the inserts in. They had to drill out the old, stripped holes in the hub, thread the time -serts into the holes, and give the front a quick grind to make everything flush.
Voila, new threaded holes, and the calipers went back on.
I was rolling home that afternoon, and the repair was very resonable compared to the other choice.
It's supposed to be 70 on Saturday here in Seattle, so if you see a guy driving a 01 black cabrio with the top down all day, that's me. I got the car late last year, and have yet to drive it on a nice warm day, Can't wait.
