Unhappy Had an "oops" at the track yesterday...

More like a case of brain damage. Slow speed corner (50mph) with a decreasing radius. A sharp one... I was working on getting the tail on the 996 to rotate. I did it! And it did...a lot. bit of a tank slapper and went off (4 wheels), and into a 2' deep sloping ditch. Skipped over it and in the process ripped off the front spoiler and made a couple nice divits with the wheels/tires. Gotta "9.5" for style and a "10" for moron move of the day on cold tires. Oops...

Code brown moment for sec or two...otherwise no major damage. Upon seeing the skid marks and divits, I realized how close I came to rolling her. The nose now has a couple small 1/2" cracks underneath otherwise, just the spoiler. All in all, more pride damage than anything.

Which track and turn?
I hate to hear about any damage on our babies, but it does happen. Sounds like you pretty lucky!
Any pics! Were you on street tires?

Talladega GP. A small 1.4 mile track near Talladega. Fun technical little track. A hoot to drive. No pics.
I was on Michelin PS2's and set FTD (1:09.62) with a Boxster S on Race rubber on my tail. (Muahahahahahahah)

You get off cheap for a pretty good story.

Just wondering if your car has LSD?

It does. Completely my fault. I lifted too much and tried to get back on the throttle - too late....

Chad,
You're not trying hard enough if you don't end up in the grass every now and then. Spoilers are consumables you know. We travel with two spares.

I checked all that at the track. Amazingly, all good. And set FTD on my last session in the afternoon after the spin.
