Service Records Question
Hello,
I just bought a pre-owned 2004 911 that was originally bought and serviced at Beverly Hills Porsche. The car was sold and subsequently imported to Canada where I bought it.
The original owner did not get the maintenance book updated/filled in. I have however spoken to the service dept at the Beverly Hills dealership and received verbal confirmation of the last few services visits.
I have been told (by my local Toronto dealer) that service records are getting harder to obtain due to privacy concerns etc.
So the question is - how should I go about getting the full service history? I am planning on keeping the car for the long term, but if I decide to sell at some point, this will make it easier.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Drifting
I have been Boxstering for 9 years. I use to get the service records for local people who were considering buying a car that was service at my local dealer.
The dealership was faimily owned, but has been sold recently. New policy. A 996 owner recently asked me to get the warranty/recall records because his local dealer would not give it to him.
The service guy who I had known for years would not give me a printout as in the past, because if he got caught it was a $5,000 fine. He did let me look at the screen, so I wrote the stuff down. He can even get fined for letting me look at the screen.
He told me that Porsche switch to a new system 2 years ago, so he could only go back 2 years.
I have no suggestion other than finding and contacting the original owner.

Three Wheelin'
I received full dealer service records prior to purchasing my vehicle, just asked them to fax to me. They sent me all the scheduled maintenance, warranty work, as well as a separate printout for the certification work. It's really detailed, complaint/remedy (e.g. customer complains about rattle when closing driver's side door, replaced window regulator etc.)
However, the dealer I bought from sold and serviced from new, one owner.

I bought my car from a Porsche dealer that did not originally sell the car, they gave me some records that they were Able to pull and had with the car. I than visited the original selling dealer and as long as I was able to prove I owned the car they printed out all the records that they had on it for me, no problem.
