9th birthday present----leather redo
Hi all..
I figured at her 9th bday..the 996 should get something special..
And as we all know ..savanna beige does not look good when worn..
The front seats were not looking good ..and last year I had bought a set of full leather seats for the rear(since the originals were vinyl). The rears were a slightly, less faded shade of "peanut butter"..so they did not match perfectly..
So while at the dealer the other day I asked my mechanic friend who does their leather repair/touch ups..The guy happened to be there that day. We set an appointment for the work.
He came to my house and did all the seats, hand brake, cubby top, and fixed a nasty scratch on the steering wheel. It took about 2 1/2 hours with most of the time spent removing seats and taping off..
Though not perfect(car has 35k miles) and to the trained eye, you can tell its been redone...I am very happy with the results..makes the car really look alot newer..
I had read here where some have bought the leatherique" kit for about $200 and done it themselves..I figured I would pay a little more and get it done by a a pro...and it is guaranteed for 1 year...

What would black seats look like in a savannah beige interior? I have a set of fully electric memory seats out of a TT and a set of black sport seats. I have two cars with beige seats, one savannah the other cashmere and don't like either set of seats, and not necessarily the color. The cashmeres are too soft, the savannah seems to have been used by someone who put all his weight at the very back of the seat bottom, way different than my seating position. I've been thinking about one or both changes for a while. I would of course have to keep the originals for resale at some point.
