Default Gratuitous recipe for fun in a 996

Put one 996 on a track, add one very polite Carrera-GT, three Ferrari F430 Scuderias, one 997GT3, one Lamborghini, one turbo'd NSX, one F355, one Z06 and a ZR-1. Stir gently. What do you get?

And yes, this thread would be useless without video, so... Enjoy!

Nice...I wish there had been a HUD showing speed etc. You know, like in a video game...

Nice video. Just curious, what sort of camera set up do you have?

That is the smoothest camerawork I've seen in a trackday vid (that ZR1 is something else BTW), do you have some sort of steadicam on the harness bar?

Just goes to show you how much difference the driver makes on lapping days. Using correct lines and getting on the power early and smoothly and track knowledge is like having an extra few hundred horsepower. I think they were all 'lucky' you weren't driving the C-GT!!

That looked like fun!
At least the NSX (and the last ZR-1) made you "work for it" a bit

Camera is a GoPro motorsports WIDE, mounted to the stem of the rearview mirror. The image quality is good (in daylight). The sound quality is poor, however, and there is no input for an external mic, so what you hear is what you get. In a loud racecar, its internal mic would be sufficient, but for a street car, it's lackluster.

Very nice! Which model 996 do you have? I assume it's a TT the way you passed everyone - even the ZR-1. Most impressive.

Great video.

Yeah, I guess your corner exit speeds were much faster than those pasta rockets, and it certainly looked like you were braking later... . That's pretty awesome. Thunderhill looks beautiful

Not a TT. Just a '03 C2 coupe. And no motor, tranny or brake mods. Suspension is the X74 kit. Very little neg camber. The Michelin Cup tires certainly help though!

This post was not meant as a brag. This is not racing. All these guys "pointed" me by in the usual polite trackday way. Which means they lifted once I caught up to them in order to make the passing as safe as possible for us both. Any of these cars could pull away from me on the straights... I was just carrying more speed through the corners and therefore caught them eventually. Moreover, to be fair, most of these guys probably don't have the experience that I do at this track (~50 days in the past 10 years?).

So, no congrats sought. Just thought you guys would enjoy the exotic car eye-candy.

Have a great weekend everybody!
