Default 04 40th anniversary or 02 c4s

Hi, I am in the market for a 911. I have narrowed my options down to 2 cars. My main concern is not performance but rather reliability as in ims or rms as both cars have mileage in the 60s. here are my options

04 40th anniversary fully loaded with 63000 for 30500

or

02 C4S with decent options and 67,000 for 32,400

I like the looks of the c4s way better but the 40th is no joke either especially since it's a limited edition.

thanks for your help.

My choice would be the 40th, mainly because of the rear wheel drive and the extra HP. However, you can't go wrong with either one!

reliability is the same.
The 40th is a very nice car and nearly as fast as a 997S.1

I take the 40th. Loaded with goodies (including the very $$ X51 package) but without the weight and AWD of the 4S.

It's the best N/A 996 there is (except for the GT3) IMHO.

Are either of these available with a warranty? If so, that would protect you from any potential IMS problem.

both don't have waranties. I had a boxster in 02 so I know the fear of explosion and leakage. I was leaning towards the 40 as well, here's the link to the cars.

I do notice the c4s is in better condition from the pics. but both are in my pricerange.

That's a tough call; both I think would be great 911s to own. I would try to find a C4S and a C2 locally to you to drive and see what you think; how it feels; how you anticipate to use it [weather?].

I own a 4S, but at the mileage and prices for both, I'd go for the 40th. It's faster and despite the looks of the 4S, which are great, if I were in the market for another P-car now, it would have RWD.

Here's my .02. The C4S looks better IMO. But the 40th has the X51, is lighter, and could possibly hold it's value better. So it's looks versus performance, show versus go, whichever is more important to you. Judging from the pics, which is a dangerous thing to do, the C4S does seem to be in better shape. It also looks to be lowered while the 40th has stock suspension that you'll want to change. Figure a couple thousand for that.

If you feel they each have their own advantages I'd PPI both of them and whichever seems more sound and has the best documentation should carry the day.

Also I'd be inclined to go with the 04 rather than the 02 in addition to all the other valid points mentioned.GL

I remember seeing the 04 40th Anniversary when they were new and they were very nice. I'd lean towards the '04 too.

Drive both! One of the cars will jump out and tell you to take it home.

I don't know where the original poster is from but one of these is in Anaheim and the other in Arizona.
