Change Oil Level Sensor - DIY?!
Hi there,
My oil level sensor on my 996 C2 '01 is faulty and I need it replaced.
Looking at drawings etc it seems to be an fairly easy fix. Have anybody done it? Any instructions?
Many thanks in advance!
Frederik

do a search. Someone here just did a nice write up on it . I think it will take a special wrench to get the sensor out. Have you tried just cleaning the contacts. I have heard that works sometimes.

The write up is for the oil PRESSURE sending unit IIRC
you want oil LEVEL sensor, I have not seen that one written up before (in the last year and a half) -
the part should be 996.606.150 at a cost of about $60... on looking i would guess it to be screwed in and a wire connection of some sort, looks simple -
GL and post pics if you do it.
ALSO - welcome to Rennlist , stick around, follow up on your findings and post some pics or your ride along with a little info about it and or you

thats a great write up on the PRESSURE sending unit - unless the OP said the wong words and meant pressure sending unit, the way I read it was oil LEVEL sensor - a very differant part... that part looks like a long tube that ?screws? into the block and has an electrical connecetion that tells the oils LEVEL - not the running pressure...
I think

good to know, that said.... if you have to remove 1/2 the intake you will want to order new o'rings prior to starting (cost me $40 at the local stealership because I needed them "now")
