Terrible gut feeling eh? The 1st day I brought the C2 home my wife pranked me by taking the car around the block, my first panic was that the car was gone. She parked it in the street when she came back. I get in the car, throw it in neutral but ah, no key in the ignition, I hop out, left the door open and thank God my wife was on the porch, laughing, but her laughter turned to shouts of "YOUR CAR, YOUR CAR" I turn and their she is, slowly rolling down the street with the door open. I didn't know I could run so fast, the wife hid in the house, and I have never made that mistake again.

You've heard the joke......guys pays the homeless guy to paint his porch....comes back a half hour later says he's done, but it wasn't a Porch but a Lexus?

Okay, the other day I left the garage door open where my Porch was, as I was walking back 'n forth between it and my other garage. I am in the alley and my neighbors swing buy and say "We saw somebody in yer Porch, we waved and honked the horn, but he didn't wave".

WHAT!!

Well, there was some one sitting out in the front porch.

(my heart really did skip a beat)

yesterday heading to the track I got behind a really slow car about a mile from my turn off - it was about 6:30am and I was running ahead of schedule so I just stuck it out to the exit. A fellow track buddy passed the car and took the off ramp ahead of me.

on the road from the freeway to the track (45 zone) he was in front of me and we were being very good (obeying speed limits) when all of the sudden a deer jumped out of the trees and he hit it right in front of me

the damage wasnt too bad, a headlight and some serious buffing and a new pair of shorts for the driver.

I was glad I took the few extra seconds to stay behind that slow car on the freeway - holy crap!

this is an awesome thread...kinda like penthouse forum! this car without a doubt draws reactions...mostly positive but sometimes quite negative too. the positive reactions and general vibe is pretty cool and an aspect i hadnt counted upon when wanting to buy one of these babies, and the positive definitely outnumber the negative by a wide margin. and i can truly relate to most of the positive fun stories written already.

except this one isnt one of the fun stories.

where i live we have a rather large population of middle aged guys that drive really big hopped up trucks. big fuggin trucks. usually with truck nuts. theres almost always a day when one is trying to show up the pcar, or is pssed off at the dbag pcar owner so theyre gonna show em up somehow. its actually getting quite tiring and i really dont react anymore to it because its actually quite funny in a sad way.
anyway...one beautiful morning a couple weeks back i was having a wonderful drive in to work. it was nice and sunny, but still a tad cool at 730am ,so i left the top up, because it can get cool going over the bridge, what with being over the cool water and also the fun speed i can attain!
traffic was light and flowing well, the lights were mostly green and i was having a most enjoyable commute in to work.
pull up to a red light where there are 4 lanes that go straight through and 2 left turn lanes. im near the front of the line to go straight through, at the far left hand side of the straight through lanes. beside me, on my left in the left turning lane, is one of them incredibly loud obnoxious older dodge ram truck thats freakn huge! did i mention it was also loud?
for whatever reason i see hes looking back and down at my car, and hes slowly rolling backwards. im thinking wtf is he doing. finally while hes still looking back and down at my car he stops after rolling backwards maybe 5 feet. ok, great i thought, hes done looking and he realised that he was rolling while looking.
light turns green for the turning lane, but mine is still red. the ****ing dbag then guns it, and i realise why he was looking at my car and rolling...he was lining up his exhaust pipe to line up with my open window. totally and completely gassed me with ****n black soot from the pos dodge.
i fuking hate big trucks and the dbags that drive them!

On my way home from work the last few miles are winding country roads cutting through the hills of mostly farmland. I swear the roads were built for cars like the Porsche. I like to give the car a high rev run on those last few miles and it takes some agressive braking to make the left hand turn leading to my neighborhood. The other day as I am braking hard to make that left I see four or five landscape guys in the street with shovels and rakes in hand and as I am cutting to the opposing lane to safely pass these guys I am thinking what the F are they doing? After I pass I glance in my rear view and the guys are smiling and giving the thumbs up as they walk back to the property they were working on. What a relief, picture guys with rakes and shovels standing in the street, of course my first thought was that they were Porsche haters and probably had their deisel pick me up trucks idling nearby.

It had to be the sound of the PSE howling, I have a neighbor that says her young son always says "John's coming home" because he can hear the car from quite a distance.

Someone at work gave me a 10 lb ABC extinguisher for my garage the other day. He also gave me a LED monitor and a kitchen size trash can. I put the extinguisher in the trash can and laid it on the front floor of the Porsche and left for home, on the way the pin must have fallen out and then on a fast acceleration from a light the extinguisher slid back into the front of the passenger seat and went off. Wow what a surprise and mess, took two hours to clean up after I got home. Would have been way worse if not in the garbage can that caught maybe half of the white/yellow crap.

Yeah, the truck soot in the face story definitely deserves an *** kicking, or some other fun and creative way to screw with the douche canoe that would do that. Like a huge stinking load of manure delivered to his driveway on a long holiday weekend

After a nice evening out to dinner with my wife of 34 years, we are enjoying a pleasant and leisurely drive home in the 996. I notice the car behind me trailing a little too close. Tailgating is a favorite pastime her in the south, after all it is the home of NASCAR so I don’t think much of it. I figured it was some kid in a Honda wondering if he could keep up with the Porsche. This keeps up for a mile or so and I began to get annoyed. I was near home, on very familiar roads, where there are a couple of nice sharp banked 90 degree turns within about half a mile of the house. I drive this road all the time so I can really get it on in these turns, having had plenty of practice. I decide to lose this guy on my bumper and in the first turn, a right hander, I downshift into second at about four thousand RPM and give it all I’ve got into and out of the corner leaving this guy in the dust big time. I level off and start cruising at a normal speed again (my wife is a cautious driver and not big on my exhibitionist driving and gives me a scowl). Not long after this car is on my tail again. Were coming up on the real great corner, a lefty with a higher bank to it. I decide to have some more fun gearing down into second; and since there is no oncoming traffic I cut down and take the racing line into the other lane and really lay into it, blasting out of the corner and again leaving the guy so very far back in my dust. I am having some great fun and a big smile crosses my face. Life is great! I love my car. Then the flashing red lights come on. I now see that the car on my tail for the last mile is a county Sherriff. I pull over as I turn into the entrance to my neighborhood. I laugh as I KNOW I’m getting a real ticket this time. I look at my wife and she has a very satisfied smerk on her face, she says nothing.
The officer comes to the window of the car, I can’t help but smile, “good evening officer” I say. He looks at me with his flashlight, bends down and peers into the car to see my wife. He’s not smiling. A young 30 something officer, he kind of shakes his head and asks for my license and proof of insurance. Oh ya, I think to myself, this is really gonna cost me. He heads back to his car to call it in. In the mean time neighbors are passing by, looky looing and smiling and waving. I can see them thinking “He finally got what he deserves, the way he drives that thing”. I know I’m getting a ticket, I just am wondering how bad it’s going to be. Exhibition of speed, speeding, reckless driving, etc. etc. “Driving school is an option, I haven’t done that for awhile” I think to myself. I look at my wife, she says nothing. I think of the hundreds of dollars in fines, and the possible insurance cost increases. I still have a smile on my face, but I’m thinking “I really screwed the pooch on this one”.
The officer returns, hands me my license and insurance card, looks at me, smiles and says “There really is no substitute, is there? Drive carefully” I watch as he returns to his car and drives away. I kiss my steering wheel, praising my good fortune, drive slowly the rest of the way home and park her in the garage for the night, looking forward to tomorrow and more of life’s very interesting twists and turns.

Awesome day and I had to go to Long Island so I took the 996, on the way back I'm stopped at a light and all of a sudden hear this horrible metal on metal sounding engine noise so I instantly shut the motor down.... But I still hear it...look left in time to hear the engine on the Toyota Corolla next to me just let go and die....

I felt bad for the Corolla driver but I had to laugh at myself.

Was at a birthday party last Sat night, and was one of the last to arrive with my wife in my 99' Porsche. We parked next to lots of new Audis, Volvos, BMWs with my 13 year old Porsche. We went in to the party and one of the guys said,"I watched you drive in tonight and heard that wonderful sound (FisterD) from your Porsche, and thought what a nice car you are driving." I was taken back by that comment, because we were in the oldest vehicle there, yet all eyes were on the 911. Nice to still get an occasional positive comment.
