Default Oil pressure and RPM

Ok sorry for the newb question, but I am coming from a BMW where there isn't even a temperature gauge anymore - the tachometer redline changes dynamically on the BMW depending on oil pressure and temperature.

Are there any guidelines on engine RPM depending on oil pressure and engine temp?

Thanks

Manual says don't go over 4k rpm until temp is at around 180. But that's coolant temp. Oil temp may take a little longer which is more important. I usually wait about 15 min of driving to insure this.

I've got the same "problem". Just take it out for a longer drive on the weekend where you can run the engine up and down and take a long route home from work every so often.

You'll have to change the oil more frequently though, say 5000 miles as a minimum.

Plus Juan. Short trips where the oil does not reach operating temps may increase engine oil consumption.

Regarding oil pressure, the rule of thumb I've heard is 10psi for every 1000rpm (up to a point) when the oil is at operating temp.

Ok this is what I've observed.
When I first start the car the engine temp is at the left most position and the oil pressure gauge is at 5.
After driving 15 mins or so the engine temp is at around 180 and the oil pressure gauge is at 3 or so at idle.

That's the only time I feel comfy going above 3K RPM.

First, is this normal behaviour (the oil and temp gauge correlation) and if so am I being too conservative?

2-3 bar at idle once the engine warms up is normal. So is 4-5 bar idle at cold.

Getting 2-3 bar at idle is a good indication that the oil is warmed up and not just the coolant.

It takes awhile to get 9 qts of oil warm, so be gentle on it until it does get warm.

My experience with my 06 996 was:

-Pegged during warm up
-on 2 or less at idle
-pegged on 3K and up RPM

+1

And for what it's worth, I'm running 5W-50. But I don't mean to make this into the 1,482,937th oil thread. Lol!
