So I missed it. Why didn’t you get a PPI?

Clutch/ Flywheel, and entire tranny for that matter appear to be NEW.. as well as a control arm and a crossmember... this thing took some hit.

As a few have said here, I wasn't even familiar with the term prior to getting into the loop here... and my pee-pee was hard for a 996- a tough lesson on impulse buying.

1300 to 5950 is what Paul Frere in "The Porsche Story" writes.

so the flywheel is new but could be mounted on a bent surface (crank) I would suggest if you go back in the to put an indicator on the flywheel surface and turn the crank over to see if it is running true (even though it is new)

Ahhh yes, the impulse buy. Been there, done that.

FWIW, You are not alone. In fact I did not get a PPI on my 911 when I bought it, and neither did the guy who just bought it from me (sight unseen).

Aaron, does he know your car is a Tip?

OK, I PROMISE that is the last Tip joke I make about your car...... unless you buy another car with a Tip.

BTW, PDK doesn't count.

Looking at a 2001 996 TT which will have a PPI completed tomorrow. This is not the first car I have looked at, and the PPI results are the reason.

So what's up with the horror story? Any chance of being able to run the car with out the trans and flywheel attached?

If you are getting billed for all the mech work then man are you getting hit hard.

I found the 2001 Porsche TT in Phoenix, where the car has been since 2003. I contacted the Porsche dealer which nothing but good things to say about how the car was maintained through the years. Don Jackson Enterprises is completing the PPI in Phoenix for me tomorrow and we will go from there.

maybe more than one issue?

One, engine off car going 60 mph has vibe. Rules out Flywheel or anything past the clutch forward
Car sitting still rev to 3K car NOT MOVING has vibration... If clutch is in rules out anything clutch back.

I think he has 2 issues.
