MPH Limit Exceeded Warning Code: What?
This morning I started my 04 C4S and for just about 5 seconds when I first engage the car to get moving, I get a computer warning on the dash saying MPH (Circled) Limit Exceeded! Now first of all I did not drive my car 150mph or did I redline the car at anytime either pror to the warning or at anytime at all. Can someone out there in Porschedom tell me what this is and what it means? And how do I fix it?

That's the "speed gong" feature in your OBC. Using the left lower stalk on your steering wheel, go to LIMIT in the display under the tach and change it to something other than what it's on now (mine's set at 100 MPH for example). You can also disable it altogether from the same place.

Thanks for th quick replies!! No Nav, I did read the owners manual but it was not too specific on what speed to change it to. I guess this is a way to monitor the kid when he takes daddy's car out for a spin that he does not exceed a pre determined speed or Daddy will know and have to punish him by not letting him drive the Porsche and he will have to do with the Ferrari.

It doesn't keep track of the speed history, it only makes a sound whenever that speed is achieved. It sounds like yours is set to chime at a very low speed, which would be annoying. I hear it often enough as is at my preset.

I have mine set to a null so it is off. The null gives two dashes instead of a speed number, and the alarm never goes off. It was too disruptive at DE's.

I ran into a guy last year that had just bought a twin turbo and was telling me how he had set the gong for 149kph so he wouldn't exceed 150kph (50 over any posted speed limit is where you loose your car for a week up here) and he's hard on the gas going onto the highway and halfway up the on ramp he hears the gong and looks at the speed and he's already going past 180kph at this point! Whoops. Set's it for 140 and a few days later - nope. Set's it for 120 - just about OK but he says he has to use the brakes to keep it under 150 when the gong goes off. I'm laughing by now and say, 'ever thought to ease into the power band and shift up earlier'?? He told me he just knew he was going to lose the car and his license as the power was just so addictive - so he was looking to sell it and get a plain Carrera. I offered a straight trade for mine. He smirked like I was crazy. Crazy like a fox I say.

T.O.worker, I have mine set at 140 as well, really helps when you're running through the gears. With a regular C2 like mine/ours if you get off the gas and onto the brakes right away you should be able to keep it under 150 ... but maybe I should set it at 135 to be on the safe side!!

Serious Limit Gong Help Needed
The speed limit gong on my 2004 996 all of a sudden started going off with no encouragement by me. It goes off as I accelerate past 40 mph and again around 55 mph. When the gong goes off the monitor on the nav unit displays "limit Exceeded". I've gone in to Limit and tried resetting Limit MPH to a variety of values, 0, 20, 150 .... and I've tried turning off Limit. Also the mph setting I choose seem to change by themselves, but never reverting to the speeds where the gong goes off. Nothing in the OBC commands seems to affect the gonging. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on?
