Thanks for the warm welcome
Driving it, u bet, already I put 400 miles on week 1, though this is definitely not the norm for me Indeed I will do my best to keep it clean, however I won't obsess over it, driving is the funnest part of the experience I think a wash every two weeks and a wax once a month should be enough
No I won't be modding it, no way. It has a few OEM subtle touches, I'm sure you noticed and that is as far as it will go.
Frankly the biggest surprise in ownership so far has been learning about the animosity towards the 996, WTH. My budget for this car could have gotten me into a 30-40k mile 997 or a nice 993, but I chose this 996. Some people I know could not believe that I didn't go air-cooled, or into the 997 with the $ I had to spend. One of my good friends even said that in his opinion this was not a real Porsche, WTF? You would not believe the vile thrown this way, wait, maybe you will My reaction is simple, I'm buying the P-car for me, right Pound sand, it is my car and I like it, I like the headlights and I like that it is almost brand new. Some people have apparently deep issues with the 996, frankly that is not my problem, it is theirs.
You guys have a nice place to hang out here. Lots of great info and learning. Thanks for the cool place and see you on the road.
BTW, any guys in South Orange County, CA? Do you guys go all the way to Newport Beach for service? Any other place recommended?
Cheers
Guille

Nice 996!
Looked at a 997 and a 993 before purchasing this car as well. I knew this was the car for me.
My wife only had to hear the factory sport exhaust to get her completely hooked.
Welcome to the nuthouse.

she is a beauty - and I love the headlights, despite what the 997 guys will say
