Default New owner, love my 996!

After a lot of back and forth decided on this 2003 mostly because it's condition and low miles. I plan on driving mine so it will be hard to keep in this condition . So for posterity I took this set of pics to remember it on my first week of ownership.

Remember it as it is--and don't screw it up with a bunch of silly mods. It's beautiful as it is.

Wow Cheeky!
When they are new (or practically new) there is nothing like a shiny, black 911! Congrats! I hope that you enjoy the labor of love trying to keep it looking so clean. I love the white gauges, too!

My advice, get a clear bra or a good old Porsche Bra like I did, use Meguires Gold Class Paste Car Wax, inexpensive, extremely easy on and off with MICRO FIBER polishing towels. Wax it every other time you wash it and as it builds up and deepens the black it will be so easy to do in 45 minutes start to finish.
I am psycho with my 996, its a Sunday routine, I have coffee and go out to my carport and put a coat on it, wait a couple of hours and take it off.

Your beautiful Black 996 will stay looking perfect if you don't let it get dirty or clean it as soon as it does.

Awesome car enjoy every second you drive it man!

My 1999 that was new in February 1998.

Default Thanks Guys!

Thanks for the warm welcome

Driving it, u bet, already I put 400 miles on week 1, though this is definitely not the norm for me Indeed I will do my best to keep it clean, however I won't obsess over it, driving is the funnest part of the experience I think a wash every two weeks and a wax once a month should be enough

No I won't be modding it, no way. It has a few OEM subtle touches, I'm sure you noticed and that is as far as it will go.

Frankly the biggest surprise in ownership so far has been learning about the animosity towards the 996, WTH. My budget for this car could have gotten me into a 30-40k mile 997 or a nice 993, but I chose this 996. Some people I know could not believe that I didn't go air-cooled, or into the 997 with the $ I had to spend. One of my good friends even said that in his opinion this was not a real Porsche, WTF? You would not believe the vile thrown this way, wait, maybe you will My reaction is simple, I'm buying the P-car for me, right Pound sand, it is my car and I like it, I like the headlights and I like that it is almost brand new. Some people have apparently deep issues with the 996, frankly that is not my problem, it is theirs.

You guys have a nice place to hang out here. Lots of great info and learning. Thanks for the cool place and see you on the road.

BTW, any guys in South Orange County, CA? Do you guys go all the way to Newport Beach for service? Any other place recommended?

Cheers

Guille
