Question Radio Buttons Peeling (pics)

The radio buttons are "peeling" on my CR220. (I need new ***** also.) See pics below. I did a search, and the general concensus is "replace the radio." Has anyone taken a simpler/ cheaper approach?

Becker claims to have a faceplate service to repair the buttons and replace the sticky ***** for $100. They also sell just the *****, but not buttons, for about $12.50 each. Has anyone used the faceplate service with any success?

Anyone tried a DIY repair of the buttons?

Thanks,

Wow, sorry to see that. Do you use some type of harsh cleaner on the buttons?

I replaced the ***** on my 2000 C2 but the buttons still look OK.

I agree with the person who recommended getting a used replacement.

The radio looked like that when I bought the car a few months ago. Apparently, the button peeling is a common issue. The PO must have used some harsh cleaner on the *****. It hasn't been at the top of my list to fix, but it's starting to bug me.

**** fix that I did was very successful, bought spray Plasti-Dip at Home Depot and sprayed the ***** after sanding them to a good shape. Use light coats. ***** now looks brand new and have much better grip.

I have the same peeling problem on the buttons. May try some black marker and clear nail polish; no real solution out there!

Porsche need to stop with the lowest bidder contracts on the electronics.... even today, the SQ on these radios blows.

I'm willing to bet the PO was a female that had long nails. I bought a VW while in college from a woman with long finger nails and all the interior buttons were trashed like that.
