Default Finally home after a long journey with the C4S!

Hello guys,

Wow what a journey!! I left last Friday and got back this morning at 2am! I left the car at the duty free at customs untill Canada day Thursday to start doing the export process.

I drove from Cali to Ottawa! Vegas heat was crazy hot even at night, Colarado mountains were sooo amazing, and anything past Colarado was straight boring!

I got stopped by a State Trooper in Nebraska lol, all was good. Just stopped me for no reason to see what's up.

My bumper is full of bugs and I can't wait to get the car in my driveway to detail it up!

What I noticed was the car is rougher at idle then my previous car, rougher shifting, and rougher all around. Makes sense though. Still have to get the 6spd mastered! It has a rattle on the left side of the exhaust that needs welding... so I didn't get the true noise throughout the trip....

Car ran strong but I noticed a slight rubber burning smell everytime I stopped after 14 hours of driving lol. Not sure if that's normal... The engine never went through that I bet. Engine is remanned and has about 27KM on it.

I was impressed with the 6th gear power! and got many compliments along the way!

I'll try to post pics after my meeting which is in 2 minutes... If I can't post them I will try later tonight off my home computer!

2003 cobalt blue C4S on grey interior. 57KM on it currently.

i'm in love!

Thanks man! I really appreciate that as this was a really big move for me!

Now I have to tastefully mod it, and keep it in supreme health!

BTW, the Avatar pics were taken in Vegas on the strip, I had to add that pic cause I thought it was so funny!

* Notice the Porsche racing shoes that I bought 3 years ago hahahaha

Sounds like a real trip; especially since it was to pick up your "new" car.

Cool Pics, congrats Topaz; the car's color looks sweet in the sun! Lose the Striped "sneakers", pick up some tasteful, useful Pcar items to remind yourself you just bought the best automobile ever created! lol..

oh yeah, the burning smell, it's normal. just make sure you or your mechanic checks and /or replaces any hoses, filters, fluids as needed. look for any and all signs of oil seepage and/or leaks "everywhere"...

Enjoy in good health.

Looks like a great trip!

I haven't taken mine out for more than 3 hours yet. But next month we're driving to Tampa, Florida in it so that should cover about 10 hours drive time!

Also a question for those who know these cars really well, but does opening the engine compartment help with cooling these engines? I thought since they were water-cooled it wouldn't matter but I do see people doing it (as in the photos here) which is why I ask.

it must be the tight engine space, because just bringing the car up to operating temps there's alot of heat built up back there; I've gotten used to opening the engine cover when on an extended stop.
IIRC, another RL'r even positions a small household fan back there to cool it off....

I just felt like it needed a breather! Those 20 minutes of another source of airflow and wind cooling it off in my opinion was a treat for the car....

I know the feeling...when I bring the car into my garage it feels like there small nuclear reactor back there will all of the heat output. I often have to leave the garage door open for a few minutes to keep the drywall from melting.
