Default 996 Cab Tension rope, ball pin

I have just about finished installing a new canvas top. I found that one of the tension ropes between the rear hoop and the body is missing (item 7 on the PET). I can get a new rope but I need the ball that screws into the roof hoop.

With the old roof I never noticed a problem. With the new roof up, the rear cover will not go down fully as the roof is holding it up.

PET doesn't have a part number for the ball. Anyone found one?

Roadsession,

Thanks but the tension wire is not my problem. I did have a broken tension wire attachment that I fixed. ie the broken rivet problem.

My problem is the tension rope that holds the back of the top down. It has ball sockets both ends. It is intact on the passenger side. On the divers side the tension rope is missing and there is no ball on the hoop frame. I measured the ball as 8mm diameter. The thread is M5x10. The new roof is tight and holding up the rear cover. On the PET its item 7.

I have serached the internet but can't find one. The ones that come closest are used in RC racing, I just can't find the right size. I have a attached a picture of a typical screw. If I can find a supply source I can finish it off.

Bump,

I have searched through all the different PET's and found ball pins for various cars and various sizes but non that match the 996 which is a 6mm ball, with M5 thread.

Does anyone know where they can be purchased? I have searched the Internet but just can't find them.

They are a standard ball pin, I just can't find them.

After much searching around the world, I found them back in my home town of Derby, England. What's the chances!!!

I had them shipped to my mother who then airmailed them to the US. The first ones never arrived so we tried again. This time success. $2 parts and $20 to ship.

I still need a black roofliner, if anyone has one, or knows where to source them.
