Default Intro and photos from a newbie

I attached one photo to a prior post, but after a few months of fettling I finally have the car about the way I want it.

Thanks to all of you, I have learned so much and also been able to do some of the work I wanted done.

2001, 107k. In the last 6 months I've had the updated RMS seal installed, LNE IMS bearing installed (my bearing looked perfect when it came out), new clutch installed while they were in there, managed to find the wheels I wanted, put new tires on it, changed the brake pads, painted the calipers, cleaned the radiators, cleaned the throttle body and MAF, put a new boot on the AOS, installed new drop-links, new spark plugs, new motor mounts, new transmission mount bushing, new swaybar bushings, put new instrument cluster bulbs in (the oil pressure gauge light was out - frustrating), installed new ignition switch, changed the transmission fluid (Mobilube PTX), installed the 997 shifter console, fixed the ashtray retraction mechanism, fixed the broken seat shaft for height adjustment, installed the US cig lighter, put some cheap eBay wheel center caps on there due to 2 of my shields falling off (!) - while I find some permanent ones, and just changed the oil and filter (Motul 8100 and the magnetic drain plug).

I've had a blast doing it too. And an even bigger blast driving it.

It's still not perfect - it has a small leak at the right front tie-rod end boot (steering rack, I'm afraid), a small oil leak I just asked about in another post (that will probably be expensive to fix), and I need to replace the driver's seat-heating element.

I have no doubt I'll have a million more questions / concerns as I go along - and find the answers here. As an example, I cannot figure out why the electronic oil gauge reads full - one bar from the top as it should be, 10 minutes after a drive - yet my dipstick is near the bottom end. However, I'm not worried about it (I'm sure one of you will tell me if I need to be).

My first Porsche (that may be obvious), and the car runs and drives beautifully. It's not the fastest car on the road, but I don't care. I've never smiled so much in a car.

Thanks again to all of you - you may not have realized you'd be helping me when you posted 3 years ago about your so-and-so issue, but so many of those posts have been invaluable to me.

congrats! car looks great inside and out. and big cheers to all the R & R you've done to keep it running in top form.

With those wheels and calipers (and ride height), initially looked like a C4; nonetheless, still an awesome ride.

I like the 997 shifter, but it was one of the first DIY I tackled, so I can hardly remember what it was like shifting before I installed it.

I did not want a short-shift kit, but I do remember wanting to improve the smoothness and feel. It either has done that or I have become more accustomed to the way the car shifts - either way, I like how the car shifts now. I also used the tool that came with the console from Suncoast to adjust my shift cables and get them just right, and I think that may have improved things as well.

If you are happy with the way your car shifts I'm not sure I'd recommend rushing out to get it, but it seemed to tighten things up a bit for my car and made an improvement overall.

Wonderful cleanup job!

I'm looking for something similar, so i have a few questions if you don't mind. Are you using this car as a daily driver? How many miles on it at purchase? How much did you pay? What kind of paint did you use on the calipers?

Thanks!
