Certificate of Authenticity - Option Code sticker missing?
I was looking for my paint code under the front hood, and noticed that it was peeled off for some reason. I'm wondering why it was peeled off?
I called 1-800-Porsche because I bought the car from the U.S, and they stated that I would have to purchase a certificate of authenticity off them... I forgot to ask how much though... does anyone know the cost?
I also asked the rep if it was possible for her to give me the paint code if I give her the vin, and she told me to fax her my bill of sale and registration and she will get back to me.... Kinda stupid, I'm not sure if I will...
Anywhere else where I can find the paint code? Manual, or different location on the body?

Your dealer can get you that info with the VIN. If you want the COA from PCNA they have a link on their website. LINK
Your paint code should be under your hood (sticker), front page of your manual (sticker), window sticker, and inside the front boot behind the driver side carpeting. I don't remember if it was a code or just the german word for your paint color.

I know, I ordered a set of bumperettes from Eric bumperplugs.com, and he asked me for the paint code... I know it is Cobalt Blue also, but probably in many cases customers say one thing when it's actually not.....
But it's good to know also... as my option sticker is missing for some reason

1) The original hood was replaced or repainted.
2) The original manual was lost so the sticker was transferred to the replacement manual.

No, the hood wasn't painted.... cause I could see the outline of the sticker where it was peeled off... But I found it in the service manual!

Great news.
I'd say there was a third possible reason it's missing from your hood: Not everybody who has ever bought a 996 was an **** retentive Porschephile. To the average joe, a paper label stuck under the hood of his $90,000 car would have looked like something the dealer forgot to remove when they did the PDI. I bet lots of them were peeled off just because they looked temporary and ugly. I wouldn't sweat it.
