Default What mileage oil change?

I was just curious to what kinda mileage the majority of you guys are changing your oil at? I used to go back and forth with the guys on the Vett forum. These guys would let there car go 7 or 8000 miles between oil changes, because they believed the computer was SO right in telling them when it was time. I personally believe the more often the better......within reason of course. I like to about every 3-4K miles.

Every 5k or 6 months with Castrol 5w-40.
Fortunately I have been hitting the mileage before the months have passed

Every 15K miles or 2 years, which ever happens first.

Once a year whether it needs it or not.

Every 3-4k miles seems like overkill to me. Also, am I completely imaging the point that because of the design of a flat-6 engine with nine quarts of oil, it doesn't make sense to compare oil change intervals to a "regular" car like the Corvette?

FWIW, Porsche says every 2 years/12k miles for the later 996 cars...

I go every 2 years on the P cars, which is 6k-10k miles. More important than change intervals, is starting the car often and letting it run a few minutes. Do this at least weekly during periods when it won't be driven. More damage occurs form being domrant than running. Oil that sits for long periods becomes laiden with moisture from condensation and becomes more and more acidic which in turns starts etching and damaging engine components.

Anyone that opens up motors often has surely seen this. You will do no harm by changing the oil very often, But even with clean oil and very few miles the damage from internal corrosion does happen.

My porsche mechanic told me once a year. It just feels wrong, but considering it costs 4 times the "normal car" oil change, I won't complain

I do mine at least once a year, and average 4-5k miles of driving in 12 months. In the 17k miles I've driven over 4 years, my oil and filter have been changed 5 times to date.

I thought oil threads were like IMS or RMS....taboo!

I have had my car for a year this month and am planning on changing the oil every spring. My guess is about 4K per year in miles.

My indy said two years on the oil really is not a problem based on my annual milage. I have a friend who puts about 1500 miles/ yr on his boxster and changes his evey year. Annual is also what the local pcar dealer advised.

FWIW, when I had my PPI last year at this time, the car oil was two years old and had about 3K since its last change and pcar dealer recommended oil change in the spring.

Every 6,000 miles on the 996 turbo which is a DD. Once a year on the 993 turbo that doesn't see many miles.

Every 5k on the "0" or "5" just to keep it simple. Too often no doubt but I credit Texas heat and DE's
