So confused reading all the reviews. Seems like Michilin Pilots are the top choice but are they worth the difference in cost??

Please help Santa souce the tires for my baby.

biggest question..... what do YOU plan on doing with your car....

for most street use the Sumi HTZR III's are a great bang for the buck tire....however I have have said many times, it price was not a consideration I would not get them next time....but for me price IS a consideration so I might end up with them again - do a search I dont think anyione has complained about them - esp for the price

No, the PS2s are not worth the cost; they're a good tire, but have been eclipsed by a number of other excellent performance tires and are mere 2nd tier now. The Sumis will give you slightly better performance for MUCH cheaper. The only drawback is they're a little louder. Dunlop Star Specs are another excellent summer street tire.

star specs are awesome but aren't made wide enough for 996 rears.

I was thinking about getting BFG KDW NTs. I've driven on them before on a friend's car and they are nice and about half the price of the PS2s.

I agree with you, except for the comment on being louder. I think they are one of the quitest tires I've owned.

+1 on the Sumi's. I'm not saying that these offer the same performance as the PS2's, but, I've done several DE's with them and the difference in track times is "negligible". The price isn't.

+2 on the Sumi's, as the consenus says. You can get (2) sets of HTR ZIII's for the cost of one set full of PS2's. For your occassional, fairweather use, they should suit your needs perfectly.

I'm thinking of going to 315's in the rear. The more rubber dragging back there the happier I'll be wiggling around the world. Just can't remember if the conti extreme contacts come in 315. Camber wear has me getting closer and closer quick.

Awesome - thanks guys for the great information.

Maybe Santa will have some left over savings to allow me to make a few minor mods.

Sumitomo HTRZIII.
Go with 295-18 on rear. Great price, great tire. I like them better than my BFG, but not as good as Pilot ribs.

^ +1. I am running 235 fronts and 295 rears. Sumis are actually narrower compared to Michelins/Continentals/Pirellis with the same width number.
