Default Suspension upgrade to ROW030 - what else while in there ?

I am planning for my suspension uprgade to ROW030.

The kit form suncoast comes with spring, shocks, sway and sway bushing.

But I am wondering if there are other jobs or parts that can be replaced while in there. It seems there are other suspension bushings that can be easily done while I am at it. But I have not heard people talking about it in their DIY.

Should I replace all the suspension bushings as well ? part number ?
Any other stuff that can or should be replace to make the car handle sharper ?

Phil.

Cool

Phil,
I did exactly this mod a few months ago. The kit is very comprehensive, so you won't need anything extra.

I did choose to replace both front drop links with stock items (non-adjustable). These are not part of the kit, but are a worthwhile replacement as long as you have it all apart anyway.

If you are a track junkie, or hoping to become one, it might be of interest to you to replace the drop links with aftermarket adjustable ones. I am a track junkie, but haven't a clue how to properly adjust them, nor interested in crawling under the car between run sessions, only to make it potentially worse. LOL!

I also did the Drop links (front) as my rubber bushings were worned/torned. I got OE ones from Pelicans.

I did not noticed anything else while working on the suspension that needed immediate replacement.

The Suncoast guy tell me I can change the suspension bushings but I am not sure what they are yet He will send me a schematic shortly

Just make sure you have a good set of tool sockets. That is all you need. The drop links have to be disconnected when you install the new suspension/sways. Very simple procedure

Let us know how it goes!

If you have a C2 the fronts are fairly easy to get out. With a C4 you need a ball joint separator due to the drive shafts.

What sort of performance improvement is gained from replacing the motor mounts?

lets just say.... its like getting an upgraded anti-roll bar but for the engine. More solid feel (rougher ride), more direct feel for shifting. For $400 bucks, I think its a great mod that will compliment any suspension..... I dont have it personally, but driven one with it on. Its on my list and will have it on shortly...

Do you think it would make much of a difference on a tip like I have? I drive the car almost exclusively in manual shift mode, but I wonder if it would be noticeable with the somewhat slurry shifting of a auto tranny.

it will make a difference on the handling of the car but not so much in the shifting.... the tip uses internal electrical coils to shift gears so it wont make a difference there. The manual tranny uses external cables that will shift more precisely since there will be less movement of the tranny/engine.

Suncoast gave me this list of stuff I could do while I am in there:

* Front Shock Mount - $63.05 x 2
* Front Shock Bushing - $25.25 x 2
* Front Stabilizer Drop Link - $63.11 x 2
* Front Stabilizer Drop Link - $46.98 x 2
* Rear Shock Mount - $101.14 x 2

Total for those little bits: $599.06

What do you guy think ?

My car is a 2003 C2 coupe with 32k miles on it. Might be overkill for the mileage but I assume that after 8 years, most of those things certainly took a beating anyways, no ?

I would do it if you if you had 80K miles. Not so much with 32K averaging 4500 miles a year.

Phil - I would be surprised if you needed to do the additional goodies. I just did mine (ROW M030) at 26k miles on my '02 and things looked pretty darn good. You'll notice if things are worn and you could replace what you need. I wouldn't buy all that stuff at once, however.

When I did mine I had 62k miles and everything was in great shape there. I only did the drop links as I mentioned earlier. Save you $$$ for other things will be my opinion
