What would buying a Porsche without some adventure be? The route I had to travel to buy the 996 was through much of the areas being effected by the high waters of the Mississippi River. My original route would have taken me through the Morganza Spillway and through the towns being flooded by it's opening. Last night the seller contacted me letting me know that they had just closed the hwy I would be taking to him. So now the alternate route was taking me an additional hour and would have me traveling through the Atchafalaya Basin. So all of this in addition to crossing the Bonnet Carre spillway that was flowing like the Colorado River into Lake Ponchartrain. It made for a helluva road trip.
I'm pleased with the purchase and nothing really surprised me. It has 89k miles so I expected it to be less than perfect. It's pretty darn nice though and the price makes it a great buy. It needs a clutch, and although it works and shifts fine it is extremely stiff which is usually a sure sign it's tired. The driver seat needs a switch and the cruise control works sometimes. Other times the light will not even come on when you press the button. Paint is really good however has a few bumps that you would expect from a daily driver. Anyway, I will have it on a rack tomorrow but don't thin I will find any surprises since I low crawled for 30 minutes under it today. I for sure have some future plans for it but for now here is how it begins....
time for a beer and a shower. I'm sun fried from driving home with the top down.

Very nice - congratulations!
The Cabriolets are awesome, there s something about hearing that sweet six hum through the gears with the top down. Puts a smile on y face every time!

NICE....great story
OT
so this "sun fried" has me puzzled. Do you mean 1/2 frozen and soaked to the bone? Here in Seattle when the "sun" is out we only get "a little wet" - do you people from the east call that fried?
