Default Engine bay cleaning

My neighbor recently had Porsche clean his engine bay. It looks better than new. I thought I might try to do this myself. Is there a peticular engine bay cleaner product out there (Griots or something?) Spray on Hose off? Any cautions to getting water anywhere (except the obvious air intake) Thanks

If your coils have cracks and you get them wet, you'll know pretty quick when you try to start it.

I like to leave the engine running when washing the engine.... if it starts to somewhat stall, stop the hose till the engine idle recovers itself. Once idle is normal again, continue washing.

I use the hand/wet cloth approach only. I never start soaking the engine and spraying chemicals everywhere. Just do it all section by section by hand and play it safe!

I agree with Topaz330ci. No water, use simple green and clean section by section.
