do you have an alternate winter vehicle?

I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra that I bought from my Dad for $4000 about 4 years ago - it had 29K on it at the time, and has 42K now. He bought it new, so I am the 2nd owner. It has served me well. I use this in the winter, and to drive to the train station parking lot for my commute. I drive my 996 after work and weekends.

No, I have an alternate summer vehicle..(Jeep Liberty) See here in phoenix where it is 105+ pretty much every day from June through september it's too hot to enjoy it. I drive my 4S on weekends or whenever the rest of the year.

I planned to drive the C4 all year long. I wanted the C4 so I could enjoy a Porsche all year long. And though we share carpooling to work with my wife's 968 Cab - it sees more summer use for Sunny days like today. I do have a second set of wheels with Conti DWS for winter which is not that bad here in Seattle most years. But the back-up plan for really bad weather or trips to the hilly areas is the Audi A6 Quattro with Michelin ICE tires. It is also the "Dog" and Home Depot car. It is also odd man out on Garage space.

hi everyone,
well i have winter here, and the thought of parking my carrera does not sound good to me. i plan on trying this winter with it and wanted to hear what you guys had to say. my take away is (and all my cars get a dedicated set of snow tires and rims) get snow tires, have fun. thanks

996 C2 driven all year, but usually stays out of snow in the winter...shares duty, especially during snow, with a Saab 97x (not so much because of the the p-car but the other bonehead drivers on the road in the winter)

Wish I would have bought a C4. My C2 with snow tires (and sometimes chains) performs pretty good in light snow or ice... and I can only imagine how fun it would be with AWD. I'm sure I would get in trouble.

The 996 works just fine in the snow and I drive mine all winter. It's just a car, and dare I say that you're missing out on half the fun if you don't 4-wheel drift a Porsche a few times per week in the white stuff.
As a kid I always thought owning a Porsche would be the best thing ever...turns out the best thing ever is being able to own a Porsche that you can treat just like any other car.
