I wanted a Porsche since I was 15. Finally was able to afford it at 43.
People talked that I got it because I was going thru a mid-life crisis. I did not attribute the car to a midlife, but to a life long desire.
What I attribute to a mid- life was the fact that I was dating a 20 year old woman for a while.....

If it's a midlife crisis, my wife bought it for me!

Wow, there is a lot of passion on this subject. If this is mid-life I only hope I can still drive a Porsche at 110

Stereotypes will be stereotypes, you'll just have to brush them off. I bought my Porsche when I was 33, and I TOLD everyone I was going thru my midlife crisis so they wouldn't push that crap when I really was. People will think what they will think, and you just have to live your life, love your wife, and drive your porsche.

So my mid life crisis started at 25, not always a p-car and has been going strong for 17 years.

My responce is normally something like "Yeah, whatever. You wouldn't get it anyway...". Those who know me know better.

Sorry but it's better than seeing a 40 year old hair plugged douche in an Ed Hardy T-shirt.

I got mine when I was 32 to avoid the midlife crisis chat. Now I am getting the "when will you grow up chat". You can't win!!!

Cool

If growing up means getting rid of the Porsche, then call me Peter Pan.

Oh crap.. then I guess the neighbor was right and the P-Car is ANOTHER mid life crisis for me. At least they don't have 12 step programs for Porsche owners, at least not yet. Hello my name is John and no matter how hard I try I can't leave the house with out driving my Porsche. I take pictures of it, I talk to it, and sometimes at night I go in the garage and turn on the lights to lust after it. I neglect my Oldsmobile and I do whatever it takes to get the money to keep the Porsche running right. I admit that I am poweless over my Porsche and my life has become fun as hell.

Trust me, the Porsche is a cheaper mid life crisis option.
