Default 996 C4S: Fabspeed Sport Cats X Pipe

Just got my Fabspeed Sport Cats X Pipe installed; everything else all stock (headers, mufflers). Sound is great, just a little more throaty - especially when revving hard (4-6K) in 2nd gear! Not more volume, just a bit more oomph! Love it.

And, my seat of the pants verdict on HP/Torque is there is definitely more pep in the 4500 to 6000 range. Can feel just a little more kick and quicker throttle response.

Very pleased after my first drive; will post some sound clips this weekend.

My stock cats developed a rattle and I drove it that way for about a month or two, just couldn't stand it (was hoping for a CEL light to get the dealer to replace under warranty, couldn't wait for it). For half the price of stock/OEM I think the Fabspeed is a good deal!

I think I'll probably get the Fister mod next spring to round out the "sound". I'd recommend the Fabspeed cats. Alex (who's a member here) took care of me and threw a $100 Rennlist discount my way.

Very cool.
Howard

Howard, I have the x pipe coupled with PSE. The sound is really raw but controllable. At wide open throttle it sounds AWESOME... Once you do the fister mod you will be on the gas out if every turn just hear the flat six howl. I don't experience any drone during highway driving either. Best mod I've done so far.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm glad you like it and the X Pipe is a nice upgrade for improved power and sound. Enjoy it and let me know if you ever need anything else. Make sure to check out our Competition Air Intake for the 996 which improves more power and better intake sound.
thanks,

howardm50:
I just installed FabSpeed sport cats 200c.
Are you getting any hesitation or lag accelerating from a stop? Hesitation happens around 1500 rmp with gas throttle wide open.

thanks,
+1 on Fabspeed. I put the X pipe sport cats in my 2003 4S and they perform & sound great. Then I added the competition air intake; even better. Dyno shows combined HP gain of 12hp -- I'll take it! Alex, you guys make great stuff and are a pleasure to deal with. Thanks!

Alex, is this CA Leagal? I'll have to smog my car next year. What is the max db with a PSE if you know that info would be great.

It's legal and CA smog compliant. I had to get my C4S smog tested right after installing the X-pipe ... I was a little nervous. But it passed just fine.

u got lucky. it is not C.A.R.B. stamped. Some pass it some don't. Seems to be grey area and u get a different answer everyone u ask. I think it is BS. If u pass smog, u pass smog!

Has anyone experience CEL(Check Engine Light) after using Fabspeed X-Pipe 200 cell for awhile?

I also would love to hear it. I recently had my friend build me a custom exhaust. http://youtu.be/bMqwpH_tID0
