Feeler....Thinking of selling my 2002 996C4S....price opinions
I'm thinking of possibly selling my 2002 996 C4S. (If I do I'm getting a 997 or CS).
Options: 6spd, Lapis Blue Exterior/Metropol Blue Interior
Supple Leather, Full leather, Advanced Tech Pack, Heated Seats, Auto dim mirrors, Rain Sensors, Wheel Crests, Aluminum/leather shifter and parking brake. I added GT3 sway bars which gets rid of the understeer. Handles neutral.
It has new brake pads and tires, brake fluid just changed. I also have pirelli winter tires on OEM wheels. Over the last few years, I've added a new battery, started and alternator.
Car has 71k miles, I'm the second owner and have owned it for almost 6 years. I bought it from a rennlist member (original owner) back in 2006. I have all the service records since new. Car has never been in an accident, never had RMS or IMS. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned.
I usually buy and sell my cars every two years but I kept this one 6 years because it's that good!!!
Car looks new. People come up to me all the time and ask if that is a new 911.
Car has been garaged it's entire life.
What do you think it is worth?

Mid to high thirties is a start. being second owner and a thorough PPI, DME, leak down test, maintenance documentation, etc. can work in your favor on asking price. Some close up pics of interior as well as paint condition helps.
You will def move it quicker with a quality exterior/interior detail esp if the car's in storage.
This time of year it may be harder to find some buyers, but those interested parties will find you, no matter what time of year. documentation, documentation, documentation.....
C4S's are sought after by knowledgeable Pcar enthusiasts, so you shouldnt have a prob. there.
dont trust Carfax! Good luck in your "possible" sale. did I mention documentation?

thanks. Paint and interior are in great shape. I have all the documentation since day one including original window sticker.
I can email pictures to any interested parties. PM me if anyone is interested.
please keep the opinions coming on price.
Any suggestions where to list the car? I've sold previous cars on Autotrader and Cars.com

I agree with Ed. I'd start with an asking price of $38K and see what kinds of offers you get. There will be some who say, "it's not worth more than $30K" or "I just bought one for $29,9" or, my personal favorite, "you can get a Turbo for that kind of money." If you negotiate reasonably and are patient you'll find the right buyer. There's nothing that prohibits you from lowering your price if you start feeling (internal) pressure to sell faster.
As far as "where" to list the car, what about on RL? I found mind on Renntech. Don't forget the PCA Mart if you're a PCA member. And, yeah, there's always Autotrader and Cars.com but I've always feared that those sites are filled with a lot of tire kickers.

Picked up my '04 with 52k, similar options minus the upgraded leather for 34k a few months ago. I shopped a lot and I think 38k to start will be a bit high. There a couple turbo's around with the same year with similar mileage on autotrader for around 40k...

I just picked up an '02 C4S with 81K for $30.5K (introductory post to come in the next few days ). It has similar options to yours minus heated seats. Has a Stage 2 FVD Performance kit installed. RMS and IMS replaced at 75K.
I'd start in the mid 30's and see what the results are. If you're not in a hurry to sell you can probably get close to that based on what I saw during my search.

I am not sure on the market on the East Coast but I have seen a few 02s with slightly less miles in the low to mid $30ks here in CA. This is just my opinion but will not hurt to post in the $37k range and see what results you get. Also, maybe some pics for the public here to see?

I agree with francars. I'd say low to mid 30s if you are serious about selling. Bear in mind that the most recent buyer's guide in September's Porsche Excellence put the value at 31,500. This may not be accurate but folks in the know are sure gonna quote it!
