I almost regret exposing the guy to all this.

Please be nice.

There is no question the price is high. But I also think there are a lot of people who purchase car based on what they feel is a good deal and do not research the cars.

I saw a 99 996 for sale at $29K I dont remember the miles but they were very low. I think that is overpriced for a 99 996. But maybe we're undervaluing our car.

PS anyone wants to pay me 29K and i'm selling!

I don't think any of us should be complaining about a guy taking a flyer at a high sales price. It can only help to prop up resale value for the rest of us. The sellers that are giving them away are inevitably the ones hurting your wallet.

Ok I apologize for hitting CL and calling that fellow an A Hole. I really thought CL was a bad place to advertize. Maybe cars are ok. Massage services are not. A cop stopped me for speeding one time and I said to him. "What would you do if I called you an A Hole?" He said "I would arrest you".. So I said what would you do if I only thought you were an A Hole but didnt actually say it" He said "I couldnt do anything.. " So I said "Well I think you are an A Hole" lol. I should keep my thoughts to myself for fear of being reprimandeder by other posters in furture.

I agree with that. Unfortunately a car is a depreciating asset. I have put my car on CL for 2 weeks now. Got a few replies. Some low ball offers and some who only were looking but said price was about right for the car. But I have seen 99's asking high $20s as well as under $20s.

BTW... love that Avatar pic. Your car looks perfect

Amen.

I don't think I've ever seen another group as determined to drive down the value of their own possessions as I have seen on this forum.

As for asking price, no matter where you set your asking price, people will still come in and low ball. If I put my asking price at $15,000, someone would offer me $10k without even taking the time to look at the car. So where do you start?

It's a longstanding tradition on this board.

The 993 guys talk up their cars and the 996 guys talk down theirs.

Good point. Who wants to give me 80k for my TT Cab?

X73, new tires, and power door locks. I'll even spring for shipping

I know of a guy picking up a $42k '99 996.

He is flying to AZ to buy the car. What's the attraction?

12,000 miles.

Of course, by the time he gets it back to Boston it will have 14,000 miles.

Not a car I would buy, for a number of reasons...but for every seller there's a buyer.

Even with that mileage he overpaid by at least 16k.

Congrats to the seller though. Nice sales job.
