Default Front hood shocks need replaced?

My front hood keeps coming down on me. Time to replace the lid shocks. Is there a DIY thread on this? I searched and can't find for the 996

It's really simple. There's a clip you need to pry up and they just pop off. Push the new ones on and you're done. I just did mine and it was easy once I started loooking at the setup. Just make sure you have the hood supported!!

There are semi-circle clips on one end of each strut which need to be removed by prying with a screwdriver. Then the strut just pulls free and you remove the other end. The replacement just pops into place - no need to remove the clip.

Really easy. Just remember to use something to prop up the hood while you are making the change.

Vertex or Suncoast for parts.

I usually buy two but replace them one at a time. Two new shocks is usually too stiff for my liking. One hand close by just replacing one. Two hand close when replacing both.

Just ordered front shocks and a new back shock from Pelican Parts. Looks like I'm getting my stiffness back this weekend. Sucks getting old.

At least you won't get a bump on your head anymore from the lid coming down.

Ok...so I worked with the replacement shock first and was able to slide the clip up (but not off). Is that all it takes to remove the old shock? Will the bottom portion just come off or does that clip need to be pryed up as well? Damn...I am so handy!

I pried both clips up. I also didn't pry them all the way off.
