I will post a pic of my IMS bearing as soon as my mechanic shows me what was inside my oil filter. Disintegrated last Wed, but motor may actually survive. Sitting at idle, heard what sounded like the timing chain flopping around and shut it down. No fault codes indicating cams out of time, and leak down was good. More to come, but moral of the story: keep your ears open - especially at startup, and you might hear this coming...

Well, even though your bearing looked fine, like mine, the products in our cars now are very likely better than original in design and quality. LN says to check or change bearing at 4-5 years or 50-60k miles - maybe coincide with some other repair/upgrade etc.
